The role of the Manager, HR Compliance and Risk Management is accountable for the effective operation of key risk and compliance programs for Global HR. These programs include: Records Management, Regulatory Compliance, Privacy, Operational Risk and other compliance programs at Manulife.
The Manager HR Compliance and Risk Management interacts with HR Team in Asia and North America,, Regional Compliance, Legal Counsel and their Risk and Compliance counterparts in other divisions.
The individual should have knowledge of compliance requirements pertaining to Human Resources, financial institutions and industry issues in order to develop solutions that meet compliance and business requirements.
Support the development and implementation of HR compliance programs within Global HR
Act as the Records Management expert for the HR team
Act as the Business Unit Compliance Officer for Global HR in Asia
Respond to compliance inquiries from Global HR and provide timely and sound solutions, while satisfying regulatory requirements
Ensure that recorded compliance requirements and issues on the compliance management database are documented, monitored and kept up-to-date
Ensure that required SOX requests, self-assessments, and regulatory documents are completed and reviewed prior to filing
Address and support the resolution of internal audit, internal controls and/or compliance issues as identified
Participate in divisional discussions regarding risk and compliance programs for HR
Coordinate the preparation and presentation of compliance data and reports for senior management as required
Develop and deliver Risk and Compliance Officer training on compliance matters
Keep abreast of the regulatory environment and emerging issues/trends, and review/update control processes to ensure practices are in line with current industry requirements
Preferably, has an educational background in any of the following field: Economics, Business, Legal, or Accounting
Exposure to compliance related work areas; including records management, privacy, regulatory requirements, risk, and SOX
Ability to interact effectively with various levels of the business unit, management, legal counsel, and counterparts in other divisions
Strong organization, consulting, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to negotiate and influence at the senior management level
Strong reporting writing skills including management reports, including analysis, risk and controls assessments
Knowledge of human resource management and regulations
Ability to deliver effective training on selected compliance programs
Professional attitude and adherence to a high ethical standard
Ability to use LAN and PC applications including: Windows, Lotus Notes, Internet environment, Microsoft Office, Archer and Bridger
Experience with Workday, Taleo, and Cornerstone/Compass is an asset
Approximately 3-4 times monthly, a late afternoon/evening or early morning shift will be required to facilitate discussions with Asia colleagues
