Manager, Global Sourcing within the Supply Chain organization at Masonite reporting to the Director, Global Sourcing & Quality Engineering. The candidate will lead a team of two direct reports and have the primary accountability of managing all activities for assigned products and services within metals, chemicals and hardware global commodities. Drive the development and implementation of the global sourcing vision and strategies throughout the Team, providing flexible, responsive, and innovative sourcing support with the ability to identify, analyze, quantify and execute on opportunities to reduce total cost of goods, increase efficiencies and timelines, and improve product development and quality through both domestic and international partners and support of our Global businesses.

Engage, build and manage internal and external relationships with key vendors, while minimizing risk. A strong leader who can establish effective relationships across functional and geographic boundaries to ensure high levels of service and satisfaction throughout Masonite's Residential, Components & Architectural divisions, with the ability to articulate the strategic imperatives for success while leading a sourcing team to execute on those strategies.

Key Job Functions

  • Manage, mentor, develop and lead a high performing, motivated team of sourcing professionals of two direct reports in addition to directly managing a few key commodities.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of "best in class" sourcing practices, capabilities, processes and systems, making sure the team's objectives are executed and met.

  • Lead cross functional teams and manage supply chain goals improving value-to-cost relationship by focusing on total cost of ownership, quality, delivery, service and working capital (DPO/inventory) Collaborate with senior management and executive levels to establish short-term and long-term business objectives for Global Sourcing.

  • Understand supplier and industry market conditions and global economics to the task of identifying opportunities to leverage existing vendor relationships in order to reduce expenses, enhance efficiencies, improve product quality and drive company profits.

  • Review of vendor performance, monitor contract budget performance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.

  • Lead quarterly forums with suppliers to review project status and performance against deliverables and create mutually agreed upon improvement programs as required.

  • Establish capabilities and directing spend analysis/reporting activities to: a) ensure near-real time identification of savings opportunities, b) identify non-compliant spend; c) support fact-based negotiation.

  • Deep understanding of Strategic Sourcing Process. Oversee the development and quality of the full process to ensure compliance with required policies and procedures.

  • Proactively identify, prioritize and manage the pipeline of sourcing projects, including providing management level reporting and tracking.

  • Define data needed to meet objectives and develop an effective plan for gathering it.

  • Utilize data analysis to solve business problems.

  • Partner with business leads and legal team in the negotiation of various types of Vendor agreements and adhere to Masonite's Level of Authority procedures.

  • Contribute to building a culture within Supply Chain that is focused on developing purposeful and sustainable relationships with internal clients while at the same time being capable of constructively challenge and influence suppliers, clients and other internal functions to ensure the company's best interests are met.

  • Manage issues and risks while communicating to management, when appropriate.

  • Consult with senior management and project management experts as needed.

  • Facilitate communication between project team and stakeholders. Proactively manage supplier base ensuring supply with no adverse impact on the business. Analyze, identify and understand supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate Project management.

  • Leads cross-functional teams through the implementation of global cost reduction projects.

  • Prepares and communicates material for project gate reviews.

  • Drive cost savings across commodities by using sourcing techniques to reduce cost as well as improve supply chain and logistic cost targeting the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

  • Identify new and innovative opportunities for improvement of doing business with suppliers for component production, logistics and/or quality by making constructive suggestions for change.

  • An approximate of 25% travel required (local & international).


  • BS Required. Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineer desired. MBA is a plus.

  • Strong Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint skills.

  • Six Sigma training and /Greenbelt certification a definite plus

  • Project manager certification a plus


  • Minimum 10+ years of Sourcing Category experience, preferably in a multinational environment.

  • Minimum 5+ years on leading global role and cross functional teams.

  • Leading Contract and Supply agreement negotiations in Asia, North American and South America

  • Leading teams and project management

  • Strategic sourcing planning and execution and supplier relationship development; global sourcing/LCCS

  • Select, evaluate, and develop category plan objectives in areas of cost, quality, flexibility, and service with guidance and assistance.

  • Execute prioritized tasks consistent with achieving overall supply chain organizational goals.

  • Implement sourcing decisions based on guidance and team consensus

  • Problem Solving:

  • Assess, define and resolve supply chain and procurement issues.

  • Apply root cause analysis and derive corrective actions, and assess adequacy of the analyses and plans proposed by suppliers managed.

  • Apply appropriate competitive cost benchmarks, financial analysis and risk management techniques to solve issues.

  • Able to influence peers and internal customers to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.

  • Project Management:

  • Understands and demonstrates basic project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to close projects on time.

  • Effectively manage relationships and peer deliverables to successful project completion.

  • Interaction:

  • Effective communicator, including oral, written and PP presentations Interacts primarily with peer associates and functional peer groups.

  • Routine interaction with suppliers senior management at all levels

  • Build industry relationships and category subject matter expertise.

  • Negotiation:

  • Performs market and cost analysis.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Issues RFIs/RFQs/RFPs.

  • Develops strategic negotiation plan

  • Conducts negotiation within approved parameters and authority.

  • Documents commercial terms and drafts contract agreements and amendments.
