Manager, Global Customs Compliance

The Manager, International Logistics and Customs Compliance will be responsible for interacting with all areas of the Kichler organization including Home Center and TLI to insure compliance with all applicable import/export rules and regulations in an effort to minimize Kichler's exposure to penalties and fines from non-compliance and to benefit from legitimate cost savings (drawback).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Insuring adherence to regulatory requirements and programs, proper classifications and proper documentation for both import and export in daily operation. Maintaining compliance with all applicable government regulations and communicating those requirements to management

  • Regular audits of import/compliance process to detect and resolve any issues or breakdowns in the process (includes random audit of customs broker's entry documents and broker invoices to ensure that the proper information (HTS, Value, Tooling, Assists) is communicated to Customs; random audit of Customs entry folders and database to ensure that the proper documentation and information is stored and easily retrieved; etc

  • Develop and implement Import, Export and social compliance procedures for Home Center.

  • Develop and implement Import, Export and social compliance procedures for TLI

  • Organizing duty drawback date, post entry amendment, letter of correction ( voluntary tender and administrative refund), CF 28's, CF 29's, protests and informal requests for information from Customs

  • Establishing Schedule B classification for products, exporting to Canada and other 25 countries. Customs compliance procedure for Canadian exports

  • Working directly with Kichler's Customs broker for approval Form 7501 to ensure on-time Customs' clearances. Detect issues and provide solutions

  • Coordinating the flow of import shipments (ocean and air) between Kichler China logistics, CDS and Kichler's facilities in the USA. Negotiating Customs bond annually

  • Special projects as needed

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND/SPECIFIC WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Detail-orientated and result-orientated with some project management skills

  • A strong sense of urgency and responsibility. Able to get things done under pressure

  • Updated knowledge of international trade, polices and regulations

  • Willing to challenge and improve current way of doing business

  • A great team player and an effective communicator

  • At least 10 years experience in International Trade with 5 Years management experience

  • Licensed Customs Broker

  • College Degree is required

  • Lighting Experience preferred

  • Ability to travel domestically and Internationally when necessary

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, system adoptability

Whatyou will do: The Business Complianceand Controls Analyst reports to the Controller and will support DivisionFinance and the Regional Company management team in evaluating compliance offinancial processes within the branch organization. This position will also work closely with theCFO when working on special projects. The primary responsibility for this position is to ensure that AirgasOperating Standards (AOSs) related to financial and working capital controlsare being followed and daily work is being done correctly at the branches. This position will also play a key role inresearching and investigating potential fraudulent transaction. Yourresponsibilities: * Conductbranch/plant audits on Airgas Operating Standards (AOSs) related to financialand working capital at the branches. Identify and assess compliance and control risks. * Communicatebranch audit results and regular updates to Division Finance and RegionalCompany Management team on overall branch AOS compliance results, makerecommendations, and highlight performance trends. * Abilityto document findings, effectively write an audit report & escalate issuesto appropriate levels within the organization. * Monitorand review various key metrics to evaluate process deficiencies, pay particularattention to significantly aged open items. * Providecoaching and/or training for branch personnel on financial topics and relatedprocesses/systems. * Liaisonwith Division Finance to correct errors at the branch, assist in diagnosingroot cause. * Performconfidential reviews and investigations for suspicious transactions andfraudulent activity. Liaison betweenDivision Finance and Corporate Internal Audit for all fraud investigations. * Conductquarterly expense report and p-card audits on North Division employees. Provide a quarterly update to the Controller& CFO regarding areas/employees audited, common issues, concerns &suggestions related to expense and p-card processes. * Partnerwith North Division counterparts to continuously develop and document auditprograms to be utilized to audit compliance. * Ensure compliance with the Company's financial policies/procedures. * Maintain internal accounting controls that are consistent with Companyrequirements/Sarbanes-Oxley. * Special projects and other duties as assigned. Whatyou will have: * Bachelor's degree required. An equivalent combination of work experience, technicaltraining/education and/or industry specific experience may be substituted forthe bachelor's degree. * Prior projectmanagement, audit, branch retail, operations or accounting/finance industryexperience strongly preferred. * Proficient in Microsoft Officeincluding Word, Excel and Outlook as well as a demonstrated ability to utilizefinancial applications within SAP. * Ability to train associatesand to answer questions regarding job procedures and issues.
