Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Gift Shop Manager to lead our ALSAC Gift Shop and associated operations. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maximizing revenues, enhancing brand awareness, and creating exceptional experiences for our visitors, patients, and employees.

This position will be based on the ALSAC / St.Jude Campus in Memphis, TN 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations:

• Oversee day-to-day store operations, including reporting and security measures.

• Ensure smooth functioning of the Point of Sale (POS) system (Counterpoint Sequel).

• Train and support staff on POS functions.

Outside Event Sales:

• Strategically plan, execute, and reconcile all aspects of outside event sales.

• Select merchandise for outside events, manage space rentals, and coordinate fixtures.

• Handle deposits, inventory balancing, and returns.

• Manage staffing needs, including both core staff and volunteer support.

Strategic Direction:

• Drive the ALSAC Gift Shop's strategic direction to maximize revenues and minimize costs.

• Enhance brand awareness among campus visitors, patient families, and strategic partners.

• Align operations with ALSAC's Culture pillars.

Marketing and Merchandising:

• Develop a comprehensive marketing plan, including sales and promotions.

• Collaborate closely with the ALSAC Merchandise Marketing team to replenish, price, and display merchandise.

• Coordinate clearance sales and markdowns.

• Provide exceptional customer service to staff, guests, and visitors.

Inventory Management:

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate annual physical inventory.

• Work with inventory company, ITS, and Merchandise Marketing.

• Manage receiving and staging processes in collaboration with the warehouse team.

Staff Management:

• Recruit, onboard, coach, and train Gift Shop staff.

• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback.

• Prepare and maintain work schedules.

Community Engagement:

• Contribute to the success of the Merchandise Marketing department.

• Plan and implement programs that align with department goals.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Coordinate tours and special events.

Quality Improvement:

• Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate as needed.

• Evaluate and recommend improvements for the overall Gift Shop facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.

• Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a gift shop or similar setting.

• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop a team.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Proficiency in using a personal computer and relevant software.
