The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is seeking an experienced engineering manager who will be responsible for leading the Engineering Groups in Forest, MS and Largo, FL. The Manager will lead approximately 80 manufacturing engineering and mechanical engineering professionals located in the Forest, MS and Largo, FL sites. The Department Manager provides technical, process and personnel leadership to include mechanical design and development, PCB design, failure analysis lab, electronic products manufacturing support, hardware integration / check out, assembly automation, production support and sustainment. This position is accountable for providing high integrity engineering products/services and continuously developing the department's technical skills in order to provide the required efficiency, effectiveness, capability and capacity to meet ISRS, SSS, EWS and ICS business needs. The location for this position is at the Forest, MS site.
Lead Department of approximately 80 engineers
Direct supervisor to approximately 6 Section Managers and Senior Technical Staff
Hardware partner to the Program Directors supplying and managing engineering resources to design, assemble, integrate, test and deliver products to contractual requirements.
Create partnerships to ensure effective product transition to Production. Institute improvements in automation capabilities, processes and efficiencies to maintain and improve our competitive position in the market place.
Provide leadership and application of domain processes and company policies, manage department metrics and implement initiatives for performance improvement.
Manage assets and budgets along with department overhead budget, review and approve the engineering department's bid and proposal estimates.
Manage personnel; appropriately size staff and balance department skills, deploy staff to projects and set priorities, ensure excellent project execution, administer employee performance, career development and training.
Provide oversight and drive the quality of work products developed by department members.
12+ years of demonstrated experience as a manufacturing/mechanical engineering leader
Direct engineering experience with product development and support at the manufacturing factory level
Experience with process application for the engineering product life cycle e.g. Integrated Product Development Processes
Strong people and "change agent" leadership skills. Accountability and drive; ability to make decisions, effectively delegate tasks and meet challenging deadlines
Experience in supervisory/line management, including technical leadership, performance development and career development
Be a "big picture" thinker with strong written and oral communication skills. Have sound judgment and decision making abilities. Able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and priorities, as well as be an advocate for process improvement and a team player able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others
US Citizenship and existing DoD Secret Security clearance is required.
Direct experience in department / line management of a mechanical engineering function at the department level.
Familiarity with Raytheon's engineering, contract and financial processes and systems
Understanding of lateral engineering functions; systems, hardware, software, test and quality
Knowledgeable of tactical airborne radar systems; electronic systems and/or component technologies
Detailed knowledge of bidding processes and proposal development.
Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs.
Active and current access to Special Access Programs
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
