The Manager, Fleet, Facilities & EHS is responsible for overseeing the organization's safety programs, managing fleet strategy for purchase and maintenance, and supervising all aspects of facility maintenance and operations. This role ensures compliance with all safety regulations, optimizes fleet efficiency, and maintains facility standards to support operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily through data driven decision making:

  • Safety/EHS:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs tailored to prevent accidents and injuries, and ensure compliance with national and local safety laws and regulations.

  • Conduct detailed risk assessments for all operational areas, implementing preventive measures and continuous improvement strategies for safety practices.

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Design and deliver training programs on safety policies, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition to all employees, fostering a culture of safety-first across the organization.

  • Fleet and GPS Management:

  • Manage the procurement, operation, and maintenance of the fleet, including trucks and forklifts, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Oversee the implementation and management of GPS tracking systems to enhance fleet efficiency, monitor vehicle use, and ensure driver safety and compliance with driving hours regulations.

  • Coordinate the disposal and replacement of fleet assets, aligning with sustainability goals and budgetary constraints.

  • Overseas Fleet and Facilities budget, ensure optimal visibility on maintenance costs and ROI of procurement of new assets.

  • Facilities and Asset Purchases:

  • Lead the acquisition and management of facilities, including maintenance negotiations, property improvements, and compliance with zoning and building codes.

  • Oversee the purchase and maintenance of major assets, including trucks, forklifts, and facility-related equipment, ensuring they meet operational needs and sustainability goals.

  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring quality of service, competitive pricing, and adherence to contractual agreements.

  • Management

  • Initiate purchase orders for all necessary expenditures and manage the work schedules of direct reports, including overtime and non-business hours operations, to ensure organizational efficiency.

  • Oversee emergency response and crisis management activities, ensuring preparedness and swift, coordinated action in critical situations.

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with third-party vendors for essential services including janitorial, pest control, security, fleet support, and mechanical services to ensure quality and reliability.

  • Proactively identify and recommend initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs, enhancing organizational performance.

  • Interpret and train staff on company policies and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence, and partner with Human Resources for staff selection, development, discipline, and performance management, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Other

  • Be available 24/7 for emergency response.

  • Train a qualified backup and ensure he/she is available in Manager's absence.

  • Performs duties of staff supervised and other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education & Experience: Bachelors' degree and 5-7 years relevant experience; 2 years supervisory experience; any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong working knowledge of computer hardware and software preferred.

  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid MD, DC or VA Driver's license. DOT License, Forklift Certification, and OSHA 10 or 30 Training preferred.
