The Software Security Engineering group is responsible for enabling Platform Security and Content Protection features across a wide range of AMD SOCs. The team leverages an internal security processor and develops components across the entire software stack including device drivers, firmware, and application level interfaces, enabling customers to build novel solutions while supporting industry standards.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated technical manager to lead firmware and driver development for our next generation of products. In this role, you will drive a team of experienced software developers in design, development and delivery of embedded firmware and device drivers enabling security features across the entire range of AMD products

Key Responsibilities:

Provide software engineering leadership while balancing resource and schedule constraints.

Coordinate with domain architects, establishing roadmap such that team is able to deliver on commitments.

Drive productivity, efficiency and quality improvements leveraging best practices for software engineering in a multisite and multidisciplinary environment.

Manage day-to-day operations of your local team: individual career development, goal setting, performance evaluations and coaching.

Staff and develop your local software engineering team, attracting and maintaining strong talent pool.

Coordinate with internal cross-functional engineering teams including hardware, software, validation and program management, ensuring customer expectations and targets are understood and met.

Develop project schedules and manage resources, engaging with program and release management groups, while supporting the team with project execution.

The Person:

University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.

10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

2+ years of hands on experience as a technical manager with a proven track record demonstrating leadership, performance management & coaching; prioritizing business needs and managing risks.

Self-starter, quick learner and able to achieve successful outcomes in a non-hierarchical environment, with minimal supervision or direction.

Strong communication, collaboration and people management skills.

Project management experience driving multisite and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience in the semi-conductor domain which knowledge of pre / post silicon development cycles would be an asset.

Experience with embedded firmware or device driver development would be an asset

Knowledge of Cryptography, DRM & Platform Security concepts would be an asset.

This team is responsible for Firmware Development on critical IPs, as well as integration to other subsystems and SoC. You will be directly involved and work on next generation technology that will be part of future AMD Microprocessors powering Servers and Personal Computers as well as Graphics Cards and VR sets. You will be working and interacting with various departments including: Marketing, Planning, Design, Testing and Manufacturing from concept, through product ramping, to volume delivery. You will also be accountable for schedules, resources and cross functional alignment for Firmware and Software engineering tasks and teams. The Job Coordinating firmware engineering execution tasks to support the release of high quality and reliable products to market. Organizing, prioritizing and coordinating firmware engineering requirements with marketing and design engineering including pre-and-post silicon efforts. Creating and actively managing project firmware execution and continue to evaluate deliverables at each project milestone. Creating risk analysis and continuously managing and updating risks that impact the project. Creating, managing and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar SW to keep track of critical path. Systematically and efficiently communicating with team and management on progress of key milestones, cost scorecard, risk analysis, sample schedules and status of open action items. Building and managing forecasts and burn charts for the ongoing projects and update team and management on a regular basis. Pre-requisite skills Bachelors/Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field. 10+ years of firmware, software development and/or project management experience. Ability to create realistic project plan schedules and drive execution alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. Ability to thrive in highly dynamic and interactive development cycles while remaining flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills. Comfortable presenting project status to middle and upper management.
