Manager, Fire And Intrusion Alarm Systems

Professional technical, administrative and supervisory work planning and managing the daily operations and maintenance of fire and intrusion alarm systems in County facilities. Plans, designs and evaluates new construction and refurbishment projects.

Prepares technical specifications, reviews building schematics and has thorough familiarity with National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) codes and standards. Develops County-wide and Departmental policies and procedures and reports. Supervises by coordinating and approving the work of professional and technical staff.

Work is complex and requires considerable contact with individuals as well as public and private organizations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Electronic Services and Security (ESS) Director and reviewed through various conferences and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or closely related field; minimum of three (3) years of experience in electronics and/or electrical engineering with an emphasis on fire and intrusion alarm systems. Equivalencies: Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related experience; related Associate's Degree and five (5) years of related experience; graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and seven (7) years of related experience.

PREFERENCE FOR: One (1) year for experience managing NFPA and Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) certification; Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification/Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
