Department Overview

Our Accounting department keeps the official books and records of the company, publishes financial statements and compliance documents, and provides analyses and tools to company leaders to make the best business decisions. The department is made up of several groups who work together to complete all accounting functions including Loan Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Financial Reporting, Corporate Taxes, Special Initiatives, and Financial Reporting & Analysis.

The Impact You Will Have

The financial reporting manager partners with the Manager

  • Financial Reporting, VP - Assistant Controller & Head of Financial Reporting, and Financial Reporting Team to manage, coordinate, administer, control, and assist where needed the external financial reporting processes

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages and executes initiatives in ensuring external reporting compliance with U.S generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for the parent company and, as needed, affiliate and subsidiary companies, including:

  • SEC filings on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K

  • Providing support for financial statement disclosures

  • Manage the entire employee benefit plan audit and financial statement process

  • Review and/or prepare, as needed, subsidiary and affiliate company financial statements

  • Other reports as required

  • Coordinates tasks and projects in conjunction with financial reporting team to ensure compliance with documented financial reporting controls and maintain related process documentation as necessary.

  • Review reporting and analysis prepared by financial reporting team.

  • Assist as needed with the preparation of financial reports for internal analysis by various constituents, including Executive Management.

  • Proactively monitor, research, and report on developing accounting topics and specific company transactions and the preparation of the related accounting policies and disclosures.

  • Establish strong working relationships with SVP - Investor Relations and Accounting Operations leadership.

  • Review and/or perform reporting tasks and controls to validate and ensure the integrity of all financial reporting systems, processes, and data.

  • Collaborate with Company auditors to resolve audit requests and financial reporting questions.

  • Oversee the preparation of various compliance reports, including debt covenant compliance.

  • Support Financial Reporting team with special projects as needed.

  • Engages in other duties as assigned.

  • Partner with the Manager

  • Financial Reporting to oversee certain groups within the financial reporting team. Responsible for overseeing many of the day-to-day activities, developing, and mentoring staff, including staffing, performance reviews, salary recommendations, promotions, and terminations.
  • Partner with the Manager
  • Financial Reporting and VP - Assistant Controller & Head of Financial Reporting to develop, recommend, and maintain accounting and reporting processes and support compliance with company policies, SOX 404 control framework and applicable accounting and SEC guidance.
  • Collaborate with and support the Manager
  • Financial Reporting and VP - Assistant Controller & Head of Financial Reporting in resolving complex accounting issues and executing other accounting policy initiatives.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and suggest and implement process improvements.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance strongly preferred. CPA required.

  • The position requires a solid knowledge of GAAP.

  • 4 to 5 years of Big 4 public accounting experience with a focus on SEC reporting required. Financial services experience a plus.

  • Experience with and/or ability to research accounting issues, conclude on the appropriate treatment, and concisely document such conclusions and rationale for the conclusion.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated strong people management, development, and delegation skills.

  • Detail-oriented, works effectively and efficiently.

  • Excellent business judgment and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and competent Microsoft Word skills.

  • Proficiency in Alteryx a plus.

  • Takes initiative, maintains an ownership approach to problem-solving, committed to ensuring accounting best practices are in place, identifies and develops solutions for additional efficiency, and regularly goes above and beyond role.

  • Ability to meet key deadlines and push forward multiple competing priorities.
