Purpose of the role:

The Manager, Financial Reporting Compliance is a diverse role with responsibility for SEC reporting, technical accounting and internal controls at Ardelyx. The incumbent will coordinate and prepare SEC filings, research and write technical accounting memos and work closely with our 3rd party SOX consulting team and external auditors. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting and SOX.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare quarterly reports(10-Qs), annual reports (10-Ks) and other forms of SEC financial reports, quarterly earnings releases, financial presentations and scripts; Review XBRL for accuracy; work closely with the Legal group to ensure timely filings with the SEC

  • Compile supporting schedules for financial statements and certain financial notes

  • Work cross-functionally within finance and across the company and with other stakeholders, including the external auditors, to ensure financial reporting-related deliverables are completed in a timely manner

  • Participate in preparation of the annual Proxy as needed and supporting the process with document review for overall quality and accuracy

  • Provide guidance and oversight to general accounting team related to accounting for debt and leases

  • Provide guidance to operational finance team to ensure significant transactions are properly recorded and disclosed

  • Monitor significant corporate events, including significant contracts, and ensure proper and timely disclosure. Perform contract reviews as necessary, documenting accounting issues and the appropriate accounting treatment

  • Provide technical accounting guidance including monitoring and implementation of new accounting pronouncements applicable to Ardelyx. Research issues and writing/reviewing memos and documentation

  • Complete quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklists

  • Coordinate with outside tax firm; provide income tax provision and tax returns support to consultants, coordinate timely tax return filings

  • Oversee indirect business taxes, including use, property, real estate, franchise, etc.

  • Oversee SOX processes and controls at Ardelyx, serving as a champion within Ardelyx; Serve as a liaison to 3rd party SOX consultants and facilitator for SOX testing by consultants and auditors as necessary

  • Ad hoc projects as necessary

Position Requirements:

  • CPA required, preferably with experience in the life science industry

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years at a public company in a role that included SEC reporting

  • SOX experience at a public company or public accounting firm required

  • Substantial experience in and working knowledge of authoritative GAAP accounting, including the composition of memos involving technical accounting and related research

  • Experience with Workiva and NetSuite is desired, as well as strong Excel skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and complex team environment

  • Team player, self-motivated individual who can work independently; results-oriented

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $87,810 - $107,323. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
