Position Summary

Provides management and administration of division's financial and business affairs and operations, including financial reporting, financial modeling, budgeting and projecting, variance analyses, and managing/supervising/oversight of staff.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares, analyzes, presents, and distributes revenue and expense financial analyses (including volume statistics) and formal reports (including pro formas) to support operational and strategic decision making to organizational leadership, including the Executive Director, Director of Finance, Chairman of Pediatrics, Division Chiefs, and Clinical Managers. This includes responding to urgent ad-hoc requests of critical financial and operational issues.

  • Coordinates, prepares, and presents budget reporting, variance reporting, and ad-hoc reporting requests for the Department of Pediatrics.

  • Manages clinical financial analysts with a high level of communication amongst the team. Works closely with the Accounting Supervisor and the rest of the Clinical Purchasing/Finance Team. Address higher level issues as necessary. Ensures personnel stay up to date on University and Department policy changes. Supervises staff by orienting, training, providing performance feedback, and coaching. Serves as mentor to direct reports and other related departmental positions.

  • Reviews Department's agreements and contracts. Reviews invoices, accruals/reversals, and prepares monthly reports. Prepares and presents pro formas and financial information in the pre-negotiation stage of contract agreements.

  • Reviews and approves disbursements, budget adjustments, and journals on Department funds in accordance with University and Pediatrics guidelines.

  • Compiles data in preparation for the annual budget. Reviews with Division Chiefs, Clinical Managers, and Directors to arrive at a proposed budget to present to the Chairman and Executive Director. Uses Adaptive reporting system to finalize budget data for review with Executive Director and Director of Finance.

  • Prepares the financial projection for the annual Department Strategic Plan and other strategic initiatives. Develops forecast models to support business decisions.

  • Prepares financials for departmental year-end annual reports and annual operating statements.

  • Serves as a department liaison for reporting in Workday and retrieves extraction of data. Prepares working files to assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting for department leadership.

  • Assists analysts with payroll costing allocations and adjustments, and assists divisions with determining appropriate sourcing for faculty, staff, and fellows within guidelines. Reviews default report and monthly payroll reports to ensure accuracy of payroll.

  • Reviews faculty effort annually with divisions and assists team with appropriate adjustments. Will be involved in annual salary planning review and entries.

  • Assesses need, evaluation and purchase of office equipment, including creating return-on-investment projections.

  • Coordinates and carries out special projects.

Other Functions

  • Provides backup for Director of Finance, Supervisor Accounting, and staff, as needed.

  • Assists Director of Finance, Executive Director, and Senior Directors with projects as needed.

  • Ability to work independently to meet project deadlines and preserve confidential information.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid schedule with the majority of time working from home.

  • Normal office environment with some pressure caused by report deadlines and flexible work schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of computer systems, database management, spreadsheets, with organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent of bachelor's degree in finance or related field.

G13

Salary Range

$64,700.00 - $110,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
