Position Overview
Under the direction of the CFO, this position manages the effectiveness, efficiency, and engagement of the hospital Finance team and coordinates communication between the hospital/clinics and the Shared Business Operations (SBO). The Finance Manager is responsible for monitoring transactions posted by the SBO and ensuring the accuracy of the hospital's financial statements.
Responsibilities
Financial reporting: Overseeing the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for presentation to hospital leadership.
General ledger management: Managing the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the records.
Account reconciliation: Reviewing reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and ensuring any discrepancies are being resolved timely.
Accounts payable and receivable: Monitoring accounts payable process and ensuring timely resolution of RNI issues.
Budget management: Leading the budget preparation and monitoring process, ensuring that expenses are in line with budgetary guidelines. Completing monthly variance analyses and overseeing monthly departmental MORs.
Statistics & Productivity: Ensuring accuracy of hospital statistical reporting and overseeing of productivity reporting, to include working with hospital leaders to meet productivity targets.
Service Line Analyses & Pro Formas: With oversight from the CFO, evaluating the profitability of various service lines, to include pro forma preparation for new service lines.
Ad hoc reporting requirements: Leading preparation of various reporting requirements, including Cost Report workpapers, AHA survey, etc.
Fixed assets: Monitoring CER process and ensuring that all capital purchases are appropriately and timely capitalized, including all CIP.
Compliance: Ensuring that all financial records and transactions are in compliance with accounting principles and regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations.
Team management: Managing and developing the Finance team, ensuring that staff are trained, motivated, and performing effectively.
Communication and collaboration: Collaborating with hospital departments & clinic entities, executive leadership, and SBO to ensure that financial records and transactions are accurately recorded and reported, and to provide guidance on financial matters.
Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred; Six Sigma, required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited university, required
Master's in Business Administration, preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience in Accounting/Finance setting and general accounting knowledge
Three (3) or more years of people management experience
