Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional travel is required. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours

Purpose

Under the direction of the Director, Finance & Operations, this individual will serve as a point-of-contact for financial planning and internal control functions within the Department of Athletics. The Manager will be responsible for the appropriate, accurate and timely treatment of obligations in accordance with the University's Handbook of Business Procedures (HBP) and internal Policies and Procedures governed by the Athletics Department's Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Develop and maintain complex financial models related to the management of the Athletics Department's financials. Aid in internal and external financial reporting as assigned by supervisor. Establish financial KPIs to aid in decision making, budgeting and operational efficiency in support of the department. Research best practices and alternative solutions for current business office applications and procedures. Work with the financial leadership to propose, alter, design, and implement appropriate solutions to resolve inefficiencies and strengthen internal controls.

  • Budget Management: Serve as an analyst for selected cost centers and centralized operations to ensure budgets are accurately developed, monitored, and maintained in accordance with the Athletic Department's policies and procedures and Financial Master Plan (FMP). Respond to inquiries on budget entries and corrections in a timely and professional manner, supporting the financial management and oversight strategies of the Athletics' CFO. Perform reconciliation of financial information for the designated systems, accounts, and/or other financial information as designated by supervisor. Ensure the original entries are accurate and reflected appropriately on the University's General Ledger in support of clear and substantive business process and financial reporting. Review and approve financial entries and payments as assigned.

  • Data Visualization & Ad Hoc Reporting: Serve as a producer of data visualizations for the department. Prepare ad hoc data request for purpose of presentations, leads, and other departmental needs. Aid in the rolling out and maintenance of data visualizations.

  • Financial Controls & Procedures: Serve in designated primary and secondary roles to ensure compliance with the University's HBP (inventory, cash handling, and/or other assigned areas). Assist the Director(s) and Chief Financial Officer with the development, management and distribution of relevant policies and procedures to ensure appropriate internal controls and record keeping. Responsible for specified financial duties, organized, and assigned to ensure the most effective segregation of duties across the Business Office staff.

  • Best Practices & Business Process Improvement: Research best practices and alternative solutions for current business office applications and procedures. Work with the financial leadership to propose, alter, design, and implement appropriate solutions to resolve inefficiencies and strengthen internal controls.

  • Gameday Support: Support the Athletic Department at home events/contests in support of our strategic plans and goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business or related field. Technical proficiency. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a championship-quality collegiate environment as a student-athlete and/or as an employee.

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications
