The Field-Testing Quality org, supports testing and operations need for products and services across Amazon. The org is positioned in a tiered structure of Testing Services, Operations and Automation. Manager, Field Testing Quality Assurance in this role would involve managing delivery of multiple testing projects. The successful candidate will be obsessed with quality improvement, experienced and highly committed to creating world class automation for regression and feature testing. He/ She should have ability to mentor or coach multiple levels of managers. One is also expected to contribute towards continuously raising the performance bar of the Field Quality Assurance organization.
You will manage a growing team of Software Quality Assurance Analysts testing software, firmware and mobile application releases. You will collaborate with the software development teams, manual QA team and test automation team to deliver high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment. Team responsibilities include functional testing, regression and system testing in field using a combination of manual and automated testing.
An ideal candidate is an experienced Field Testing Software QA Manager with a development and/or QA background who can direct the activities of a growing team. The successful candidate should have experience with a variety of software QA tools and should be able to apply QA process, practice and principles to Amazon software development and release process. He/She has focus on customer and understands the importance of continuous quality improvement; they are able to develop and drive a high-level strategy, as well as to take a hands-on approach to implementing that strategy. They are dedicated to building a thriving and high performing team.
Work with business and development teams to understand product vision and requirements
Understanding how all elements of the system software ecosystem work together and developing QA approaches that fit the overall strategy
Be responsible for development of test strategies and creation of appropriate test harnesses
Oversee the development and execution of test plans and monitoring and reporting on test execution
Define the project / team goals aligning to the business goals and stakeholder expectations
Build partnership with multiple senior leadership stakeholders (Sr. QA Managers, Sr. Development Managers, Sr. Technical PMs) to facilitate successful deliverables from your organization
Develop robust metrics that communicate the performance of the group across multiple dimensions to different stakeholders. Should be able to define mechanisms and metrics that helps to benchmark and raise the bar of team's performance.
BS / MS in Computer Science or related field
At least 2 years of experience managing a software QA team
Experience with manual and automation testing
At least 5 years of overall experience in software engineering or quality assurance
Experience with Agile, Scrum, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
Demonstrate expertise in black box and white box testing methodologies
Experience testing a complex hardware product
Excellent communication and analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems
Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness
Experience with Java OR Python and Python based automation frameworks
Demonstrated experience in measuring and reporting quality-related metrics to identify trends and proactively solve problems
Strong people management skills, with a proven ability to hire and grow talented QA engineers
Some occasional travel might be required
