Manager, E&S Claims

We are currently seeking a Manager, E&S Claims, to manage and oversee the Excess and Surplus Lines Claims team to ensure that all assigned Excess and Surplus Lines Liability claims are handled expeditiously, efficiently, and in accordance with State Laws and company policies and procedures.

This position is preferably located at our Richmond, VA, Sarasota or Lake Mary, FL offices. Remote will be considered for candidates not in close proximity to one of our office locations (in states we write business).

What you will do:

• Determine work objectives and planning workloads and deadlines for team. Review procedures; workflows and time utilization: identifies potential volume or workflow issues and/or areas where efficiency can be improved and implements changes. Advise user departments of policy or procedural changes.

• Sets accurate/timely loss/expense reserves in compliance with Claim guidelines. Approve denials, changes in reserves, and other claim related actions. Adherence to reserve, payment (settlement), and expense authorities.

• Develops litigation/file disposition strategy to include directing defense counsel on all phases of litigated files using appropriate litigation management controls.

• Review reports and the miscellaneous resource tools to identify trends. Track trend results to support division and corporate goals. Review, evaluate and prepare a variety of reports on their assigned area(s) claim activities.

• Examine selected active E&S Claims Team cases, analyze status and direction and provide instruction for file management and resolution.

• Identify and respond to service issues directly with agent or policyholder, including personal visits and file reviews as required.

• Identify and resolve procedural and coverage issues; investigate and resolve Division, Department of Insurance, claimant, policyholder and agency inquiries.

• Conduct file reviews in accordance with Claim guidelines and ensure regular and accurate reserve reviews by supervisors and adjusters.

• Manage and control DCC and A&O expense utilization within area of responsibility.
