Overview
This position is accountable to plan and oversee all activities relating to Environmental Services in an assigned area of the facility. These services include, but are not limited to, the cleaning of hospitals, outpatient facilities, offices, clinics, meeting set-ups and waste removal.
This position manages staff, materials, and financial resources to achieve efficient operations with positive outcomes. This position will also meet and/or exceed internal and external customer expectations while adhering to the organizational environmental and infection prevention standards and standards established by external regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
Manages the departmental cleaning activities. Consistently assesses and prioritizes the cleaning needs of the facility; assigns and delegates duties /responsibilities to the front-line staff.
Ensures that staff assigned to area where medications are stored, do not touch/handle the medications and that they are escorted where narcotics are available. Clearly defines expectations for front-line staff according to the department standards. Delivers services that consistently meet defined objectives (e.g. patient satisfaction). Promotes positive relationships with all employees and contributes to positive group morale. --------------------------------------------------Manages employee performance and development.
Conducts complete and meaningful performance summaries for direct reports according to established deadline. Provides coaching and training to staff to maintain or improve job performance and documents activities appropriately. Motivates and provides front-line staff with honest, accurate, fair, specific, and timely performance feedback that includes both praise and constructive criticism. --------------------------------------------------Controls departmental supplies, tools, and equipment; within budget while ensuring appropriate resources are available to meet the operational needs.
Always ensures equipment and storage areas are organized, secured, and clean. --------------------------------------------------Productivity and quality indicators are always used to ensure needs are met and completed according to departmental guidelines; using appropriate documentation system. Always monitors productivity indicators using appropriate data collection tools/systems daily hours variance, duty list, and daily area assignment roster (on/off schedules). --------------------------------------------------
Qualifications
EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent, RequiredAssociates, Business Management, PreferredBachelors, Business Management, Preferred EXPERIENCE:2 years, Healthcare - Environmental Services, Preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDN/A | NONE PREFERREDProfessional certification preferred (IEHA, CHESP)
