What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking an Environmental Manager to lead and manages our dynamic mix of technical and non-technical members of the workforce within the Environmental Management program area.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work effectively with site-wide internal and external strategic partners to include DOE/NNSA Headquarters and the local Sandia Field Office.
Lead this corporate function and be required represent the organization using effective verbal and written communication methods and to seek continuous improvements to the program to ensure it remains technically sound, efficient, and effective.
Ensure deliverables are met through the effective management of staff and supporting resources.
Organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks since staff will support the entire laboratory through the performance of hazard assessments.
Establish clear expectations for staff and defining services to meet customer needs.
Be committed to a culture of safety and support implementation of programmatic requirements across Sandia.
Be responsible to ensure adequate staff exists to meet deliverables and to mentor staff in their career development.
Qualifications We Require
Bachelor's or Master's in Sciences, Engineering or a closely related field.
Eight or more years of experience in the comprehensive practice of Environmental Management.
Managerial and/or project/program management experience.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Environmental requirements and regulations.
Qualifications We Desire
Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience as a manager, project manager, or team lead.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of customers, including the ability to build and lead effective working relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Track record of delivering results, effectively leading people, and guiding teams.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks.
Successes at establishing expectations for staff and defined program services to meet customer needs.
Demonstrated technical competency in the practice of comprehensive industrial hygiene.
Experience with handling budgets and staffing.
A dedication to a culture of safety and demonstrating those values to the workforce.
Demonstrated ability to mentor others in their career development.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
