This position will be responsible for overall laboratory management, personnel management, test facility maintenance, technical oversight, facilities planning, lab/shop scheduling, materials management, and data management at the Engineering Research Center. The manager must have demonstrated competency executing projects, proficiency in a variety of operations techniques, and proven operations management skills. This position will be supported by a combination of exempt and non-exempt individual contributors responsible for ensuring work completion meets quality standards.

Serve as the primary interface to the engineers for resource scheduling and technology development.
Ensure effective management or programs or processes to include relevant compliance considerations.

Charged with cross-training of lab personnel.

Oversee personnel hiring and termination decisions.
Responsible for ensuring quality systems goals and objectives are met.
Responsible for lab automation and instrumentation standardization.
Responsible for calibration databases, specimen and material tracking systems and database development.
Responsible for budget/cost management.
Responsible for managing long-term capital plans.

BS in relevant business field
5 years of operations management experience.
5 years of group management experience.
Project management and resource allocation experience.
Ability to understand and apply cost and financial accounting concepts.
Knowledge of business acumen and practices.
Must possess ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff members, other Institute personnel, clients, and customers.
