As the Manager of Engineering Projects, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of industrial engineers responsible for a portfolio of projects, with emphasis on the design, implementation, and start-up of new warehousing and distribution facilities. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Manage a variety of important and meaningful projects, including balancing schedules, resources, and competencies to ensure success

  • Collaborate with internal functions and external customers to exceed expectations and reach all technical, delivery, and budgetary goals

  • Transform requirements from preliminary client scope and early design concepts to final design, installation, testing and start-up, while overseeing vendors and installation schedules

  • Drive engineering principles for facility design, product flows, storage, and packaging in a high-volume distribution and warehousing operations environment, using the best technology, systems, and methods

  • Build and deliver process documentation for effective transition to operations and other functions

  • Lead design reviews to ensure oversight during the different phases of implementation

  • Develop a culture focused on standardized methodologies and lessons learned

  • Mentor, coach, influence, and develop team talent to ensure the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field

  • 5 or more years of experience in engineering-related industry

  • 3 years of experience with engineering management

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Demonstrated field experience supporting, maintaining, and monitoring labor and equipment efficiencies

  • Experience with project and resource management

  • Experience with Lean tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, and standard work

  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment; adhere to and ensure safe work practices and safety policies for all

  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor's degree (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering)

  • Experience with process and simulation tools

  • Prior operations experience

  • Excellent attention to detail; quick learner with creative problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and guide others in the decision-making processes throughout the project life cycle

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience

As the Facilities Engineer Project Manager, you will provide project management leadership for facilities engineering projects including the oversight of facility and equipment installation related work. What you'll do on a typical day: * Manage all assigned projects in a manner that will ensure completion within the approved project schedule and budget * Interface with internal and external customers as required to ensure that the technical, schedule and budget goals of those customers (as they relate to assigned project work) are met * Develop scopes of work for assigned projects, perform and/or oversee the related design and drafting work and compile bidders lists and contractor bid packages and initiate solicitation of proposals to facilitate the implementation of the assigned projects * Evaluate contractor proposals and initiate the required purchase requisitions for the recommended course of action for assigned projects * Direct and oversee assigned contractor personnel in activities relating to the implementation of assigned projects What you need to succeed at XPO: At a minimum, you'll need: * Bachelor's degree * 5 or more years of experience in general plant engineering and project management * Working knowledge of several of the following: warehouse equipment (racking and shelving), plant utilities, cold storage refrigeration equipment, fire sprinkler systems, and conveying equipment It'd be great if you also have: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering * Advanced degree Be part of something big.
