Engineering Manager- Exempt

This position will drive the research and development of manufactured parts. This includes the overall responsibility of ensuring that processes will be delivered to the in-house customer on time, and will be capable of routinely delivering the expected level of quality.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes, programs, fixtures and tooling are operator friendly and that the manufacturing shop has proper engineering coverage to be able to respond and address questions to aid in the continual flow of product through the manufacturing process. To oversee and manage the Engineering functions. Have complete responsibility of the functionality and design of the division's product.

Work together with all department managers to assure that the customer's requirements are met, and the finished product is capable of being manufactured in an economical and expedient manner. At times is the liaison between the company and the customer to ensure the customers' expectations are met in relationship to the given or proposed order.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure that the manufacturing shop has proper engineering coverage to respond and answer any question they might have.

Schedule the engineering staff in such a way to provide maximum efficiency

Track the progress of each engineering discipline ensuring a maximum effectiveness.

Offer suggestions and help in efforts to continuously improve the processes on the shop floor.

Be active in any program the company has for continuous improvement and safety requirements.

Help define Root Cause and Corrective Actions on components and designs that result with non-conformances and more importantly assure that the proper action is implemented. It is the overall responsibility of the Engineering Manager to assure that proper follow through of all disciplines takes place.

Responsible for implementing all engineering changes from the customer in a timely manner to the Production Manager for proper flow.

Responsible that the engineering personnel are properly trained and they continue to stay up to date with the latest techniques for manufacturing.

Directly supervises the employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.

Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.

Participate in training as required

5-10% Domestic Travel required

ISO 9002 Authority:

Is authorized to initiate, record, recommend, verify and implement corrective actions or solutions to problems relating to product, process or quality system.

Is authorized to write work instructions and create forms.

Is authorized to issue purchase orders for sub contract services.

Is responsible for ISO 9002 implementation.

May approve vendors.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility

Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gages, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.

Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate actions

Working Conditions:

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions, to attend job-related seminars and courses, training sessions and meetings beyond normal working hours and to perform other job related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (BA) from four year college or university; or 8-15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess excellent skills in blue print reading and interpretation, have the ability to understand customer requirements and specifications, tooling requirements and overall knowledge for CNC Programming. Must have the ability to work with CAD/CSM Systems, and be extremely well versed in computer skills with PC and Microsoft software applications. Must have excellent communication skills to interact with alike disciplines.
