Function Overview

Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for a Manager Engineering, Global Packaging at our St Joseph, Michigan location. This role is a process manager, not a people manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Refine, Organize and Communicate Global Packaging requirements and test specifications (entire value chain)

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to insert field /supply chain requirements into DVP&R Design guide, considering handling & transportation requirements

  • Review platform packaging design while interacting and partnering with platform packaging engineers

  • Focus on sustainable packaging options with future global requirements in mind

  • Lead continuous improvement of the packaging design based on field learning's

  • Support the damage reduction steering committee with prioritizing areas of work.

  • Develop Packaging Roadmap (Technology, Materials & Regulations)

  • Contribute to the creation of Packaging Design Guides and leverage best practices

  • Containment and Short Term correction plan with collaboration with the Quality team

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering

  • Packaging experience in the appliance field

  • 5+ years' experience in a Packaging environment

  • Strong understanding of packaging construction, materials and, machine interaction

  • Broad packaging component knowledge and experience with plastic, paper, and resin-based packaging materials and/or hybrid applications combining multiple substrate types

  • Project management experience including influencing others

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven track record to create organizational alignment

  • Proven ability to drive initiatives that support change

  • Customer focused

  • Six Sigma black belt trained and/or certification preferred

Function Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Project Manager opening to join our Global Strategic Sourcing organization. In this role, through supplier management, you will contract negotiations, sourcing strategy, support identification and on-boarding of new suppliers.
