Sonoma Photonics has an opening for an Engineering/Quality Manager 2 to join our organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Santa Rosa, CA.

The Engineering/Quality manager position is the key technical focal point for all technology driven activities at Sonoma. This position exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally results in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds; jeopardize future business activity. This position will also encompass the responsibilities of Quality Manager, accountable for developing, applying and maintaining quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

Program Manager responsibilities include: planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality, and full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large technical services-type contracts. Supervisory or management responsibilities for projects engaged in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related technical discipline and 5 years of industry experience.

  • Upon hire, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance

  • A minimum 3 years of leadership/management experience is required

  • Familiarity with thin film characterization techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a technical discipline

  • 5 years of leadership/management experience

  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates

In this exciting role, as Senior Design Assurance Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for providing leadership and direction to the DAE team, ensuring the implementation of strategic and tactical activities supporting the Coronary and Renal Denervation Business Unit. CVG The Cardiac and Vascular Group brings all of our cardiac and vascular businesses together into one cross-functional, collaborative operating unit to employ the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe. CORONARY AND STRUCTURAL HEART provides interventional devices to treat coronary arteries that are blocked by atherosclerotic plaque, devices and therapies to treat structural defects of the heart and a pipeline of devices that further patient care including reducing hypertension through renal denervation. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. * Develops, evaluates, implements and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products * Ensures robust risk management for new concepts from initial design stage through product development phases and into market release * Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of pre-market product development. * Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery. * Champions the application of Design, Reliability, Manufacturing (DRM) practices, methods, and tools. Ensures all product evaluations from prototype testing to design verification are managed to the highest quality standards in compliance with corporate, regulatory and GMP requirements. * Develops strong cross functional teamwork with all functions involved in product development and maintains strong links with similar functions across CRDN and the wider Medtronic business to develop and harmonize systems and practices. * Applies clinical knowledge of product use to ensure appropriate quality and design decisions are made and to support the development of bench simulations/tests to evaluate new product design. * Contributes to establishing department goals; budgets, measurement and metrics systems in line with business objectives to ensure quality standards are achieved and thus ensure that new product development projects are effectively managed. * Responsible for continuous improvement activities and for forecasting and managing department headcount allocation. * Participates in building a strong design assurance engineering team by hiring qualified candidates, coaching & mentoring team members and supporting them in their ongoing professional development. * Establishes and actively manages performance expectations. * Maintains expert, up-to-date knowledge of quality system regulations and industry practices applicable to areas of responsibility. * Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems. * Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies. * Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products. * Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release. * Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
