The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Manager Emergency Services (ED) provides twenty-four (24) hour administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the planning, operating, staffing, and coordinating of assigned Emergency Services Nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.

  • 5 years clinical experience in emergency nursing.

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing

  • REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
  • REQUIRED
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association
  • REQUIRED
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
  • REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing.

  • 2 years leadership experience.

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Various-Employee provides certificate

  • PREFERRED

Essential Functions

  • Participates in establishing goals, standards, policies, procedures, and protocols for nursing services and assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with the mission of Sharp HealthCare.

  • Maintains quality patient care through the use of clinical expertise and improved nursing practice.

  • Facilitates and resolves issues that affect the quality of service provided to patients and physicians.

  • Supervises staff including hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, and assuring that performance appraisals are completed on time. Plans for the efficient and effective use of staff skill sets and workloads.

  • Manages operations in accordance with established standards of practice, policy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participates in budget development as needed and maintains a budget consistent with hospital goals and objectives.

  • Builds relationships and rounds consistently with management, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to facilitate program goals and outcomes.

  • Demonstrates strong team building skills and effectively institutes change supporting unit, level of care, and organizational goals.

  • Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, Sharp employees, physicians, patients and visitors.

  • As Stroke Program Champion, responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating stroke services and activities for the hospital in accordance with regulatory requirements and quality benchmarks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of professional nursing practice, including current trends and issues.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.

  • Evidence of effective supervision and teaching.
