Manager, Eh&S - Chemical Safety

We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager who can own and develop our programs within Chemical Safety. This position will apply a solid understanding of EH&S processes, procedures and systems to ensure health & safety compliance standards are met and will develop a deep understanding of how the team collaborates with other related areas to improve efficiency of their own team.

The preferred candidate applies understanding of chemical safety and how EH&S contributes to the achievement of objectives that have a cross functional impact. A typical day might include: Functions as the lead advisor for Chemical Safety to the EH&S Department regarding tasks, projects and operations Hazard Communication Chemical Hygiene Industrial Hygiene Respiratory Protection Develop, implement, and maintain chemical safety policies and procedures.

Track, report, and present on related key performance indicators May have to provide guidance for unplanned events or incidents during non-regular working hours. May provide secondary construction project support as a subject matter expert during each phase of the project - design, construction, and post-construction. May provide support to a specific aspect of the business such as new target characterizations, vivarium, and safety data sheet development.

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory bodies. Manage the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database and ensure accessibility to all employees.

Train employees on chemical safety procedures, including proper handling, storage, and emergency response. Investigate chemical accidents or incidents and prepare reports with recommendations for preventing future occurrences. Coordinate with local emergency services and other external agencies as necessary.

Stay updated on new legislation and advancements in chemical safety and adjust policies accordingly. This role may be for you if: You have the ability to solve highly complex EH&S problems and work on EH&S issues of diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires review of regulations and standard industry practices.

Use analytical skills and judgment to recommend a "best" solution. Excellent communications skills Strong leadership and strategic analysis skills To be considered for this role you must possess a Bachelors degree with 7 years of proven experience in EH&S / Chemical safety or a Masters degree (preferred) with 4 years of experience. CIH Certified Industrial Hygienist is preferred or CSP Certified.
