Job Summary:

This role will be a leader in the new Distribution Strategic Planning team within Entergy's unified Distribution Operations organization. Our team will create a unified distribution strategy that transforms the way we do business to achieve operational excellence and meet our customer's expectations.

We will change the approach, philosophy and mindset on how we plan, invest, operate, and maintain of the distribution system while recognizing and monitoring the rapid pace of technology and evolution of customer expectations.

We will be a part of delivering a smarter energy future for our customers. We will focus on better system performance, more service options, more flexibility, interoperability and more line capacity for added distributed generation (DG) and distributed energy resources (DER) while continuing to focus on the affordability of service.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and direction of the Distribution Asset Management strategy group within the Distribution Strategic Planning organization. Responsible for development of the system distribution strategic plan focused on the infrastructure renewal and capital program development for distribution assets.

  • Provide system wide leadership of the following activities on behalf of distribution operations

  • Lead for development of the distribution capital plan for distribution asset management including the strategic approach to achieve the Integrated Energy Network, development of the DSP business case, support project approvals including finance authorization processes

  • Development of the long-term distribution strategic plan (5 and 10 year). Coordination with the planning teams on project development and portfolio development that is holistic and comprehensive to both asset management, reliability, and planning

  • Developing program plans and projects that provide the greatest benefit (value targeted, risk mitigated).

  • Integrate processes to incorporate the changes anticipated from Grid Modernization (AMI, EAM, DA, and Grid Modernization Study) including:

  • Identify methods to navigate from historical analysis practices to predictive plans that incorporate the new integrated systems underway

  • Active participation with in flight initiatives to determine requirements for improved asset health monitoring and analytics

  • Ownership for asset management philosophy, strategies, processes, standards, and training including:

  • Establishing asset management practices and goals for infrastructure renewal and asset performance (e.g. pole cycle standards, cycle ranges, average age targets, spare equipment strategies, etc.)

  • Reliability inspections procedures and training materials

  • Outage forensics with the partnership of the Design Basis team to inform new materials and construction standards

  • Operating standards and guidelines with coordination of the System Planning team

  • Support of KPI development to monitor and

  • Coordination with Managers of Distribution Planning, Enterprise Asset Management, and Emerging Technology on changes to the distribution asset management strategies and portfolio of investments especially as they relate to the distribution strategic plan

  • Monitoring program execution plans and ensuring program plans are delivering expected value benefit.

  • Perform analysis and trending to insure programs and plans are addressing reliability and asset performance.

  • Lead the regulatory responses and analysis required to support approvals of Distribution Strategic Projects

  • Develop future technical leaders through mentoring and challenging assignments.

  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external customers to drive consensus on projects and foster open communications. Customers include Financial Business Partners, both T&D PM&C, Transmission Asset Management, Jurisdictional Distribution Ops teams, Transmission Planning, Regulatory, Major Accounts, Commercial Accounts, Communications, Distribution Operations Lead Team, and other groups as necessary.

  • Coordinate program and project planning with Transmission Planning, Distribution Planning, Enterprise Asset Management, Economic Development, and Area Design to optimize cross-functional plans.

  • The continued growth and development of employees providing opportunities for them to continuously learn and perform at their optimum level and support for individual career goals.

  • Hire and recruit candidates for the Distribution Strategic Planning organization in all roles (including Co-ops, Summer Interns and graduates for permanent hire) ensuring the best candidates from across the county.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

Required qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or Business degree

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to foster and adapt to change

  • Ability to monitor and manage departmental budgets

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Finance/Accounting, PE (Desired)

  • BS in Engineering and MBA preferred

  • Required Experience

  • 5 years of supervisory experience

  • 10 years minimal experience in the utility industry

  • Preferred Experience

  • 7 years of supervisory experience

  • Experience with project management

  • Experience with financial planning

  • Transmission or Distribution supervisory experience

  • Transmission or Distribution planning experience

  • Experience in Transmission or Distribution design, operations, construction, or reliability

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office environment but may require time at plant sites and vendor's facilities. Up to 50% overnight travel. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
