The primary purpose of this role is to manage the Development team resources across one or more product lines to ensure that software development Programs are adequately staffed, and ensure that targets for the Development and Maintenance and quality of products are achieved. This can include leading quality, test, or documentation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Resource forecasting and allocation of software engineers, quality engineers, and/or technical authors across several development programs for new product development

  • Defining, leading, and auditing progress with development process and quality initiatives, as appropriate to project and product need

  • Ownership of standards-based compliance or process improvement efforts, as required by Programs and as appropriate to project and product need

  • Participation-in and well-planned implementation-of established global software quality improvement initiatives and processes, leveraging ROI, adherence to standards, and timely, measureable results

  • Establishing and cultivating collaborative, effective relationships with global counterparts to ensure adequate resource allocation to projects and maximum efficiency

  • Regular use/reporting of metrics for resource allocation, software defects, productivity, and efficiency

  • Establishment of performance goals for all team members

  • Leveraging effective, clear, timely communication via all available written and verbal forms and in a global context as appropriate for the initiatives and locations involved

  • Ensuring commitments and progress to schedules remain clear, reasonable, and proactively monitored

  • Ensuring communication and status forums/formats make optimal use of time and effect, draw attention to important matters, and are effective mediums for managing initiatives and teams

  • Identify and recruit internal/external talents to ensure effective mix of competencies

  • Induct new joiners in order to quickly maximize performance

  • Set and communicate team/individual objectives and KPI to inspire individuals to achieve high performance

  • Allocate workload to fully utilize every employee's talent and growth potential

  • Implement development plans and coach for individuals to reach their maximum talent

  • Provide regular constructive feedback on performance/development and address poor/mediocre performance on a timely manner

  • Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent

  • Regularly communicate on company news and team progress against business plan

  • Create and foster team spirit

  • Effectively and proactively lead team in the global, multi-site context as/if required

Qualifications


Academic and Professional

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Program of study required

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications and professional memberships preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in people management experience.

  • Must have a passion for managing, developing and mentoring individuals

  • Proactive maintenance of professional management strategies, development methodology and standards for team operations, and improve project, product or process

  • Must possess leadership and team building competencies with and through strong interpersonal skills.

  • Should possess the ability to recruit top technical talent.

  • Should have strong written and oral communication skills

  • Should have demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills with pension for metrics

  • Should have strong knowledge/experience with Agile SDLC which could include specialization in quality processes

  • Nice to have experience with SAFe methodology and (CI/CD) Continuous Integration and Delivery.

  • Should be technically competent with understanding of HTML/Java script, .NET, SQL Server 2008/2012 technology stack

  • Could have background of working directly with customers

  • Could have experience in Healthcare, possibly with clinical experience

  • Proactive maintenance of professional management strategies, development methodology and standards for team operations, and improve project, product or process

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel required

Working Arrangements:

  • Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards

Other duties may be assigned.  * Advance the development and modernization of testing and QA strategy for Team Digital inclusive of people, process, and tools that will drive higher quality and efficiency.  * Maintain high-level awareness of the leading edge of QA and testing tools and practices, in both their automated and manual forms.  * Play a lead role in determining best practices, methods and tools; be responsible for the consistent implementation of tools / methods, and results.    * Coordinate the testing efforts including internal and external resources, be on point to ensure all areas of the application are fully tested.    * Be an active participant in developing project and product plans; advocate and evangelize for testing and QA as integral lifecycle components.    * Provide leadership, best practices, feedback and mentoring to other QA team members.  * Develop and maintain service level metrics for systems, including response times, failover, time to failure, and time to recover.  * Provide insight to dev teams and business-side stakeholders to determine what's ready or not ready for prime time in the product/project pipeline.  * Participate, advocate and be willing to aid between production and testing/stage environments. * Be capable and willing to participate directly in script development, both hands-on and assisting other engineers.  * Build and implement actual testing approaches: stress; load; capacity; soak; spike; etc.  * Be responsible for certifying software performance for production releases.  * Collaborate and partner closely with dev and ops teams to ensure that our platforms perform as expected.  * Be in the vanguard of a truly agile, true DevOps, true CI/CD culture here at AAP.  Advance Auto Parts Raleigh NC
