Job Detail

The Manager, Deployment & Itinerary Planning will manage and development, analysis and communications of deployments and itineraries, as prescribed by the Director in order to meet the commercial needs of Seabourn Cruise Line.

As a member of the itinerary planning team, you will tasked with providing wide ranging and multi-level support for the Seabourn Cruise Line deployment and itinerary planning process. This is a fast paced environment where a quick thinking, sure-footed, innovative, open minded, positive and flexible approach is required.


  • Manage the development of deployments & itineraries Seabourn Cruise Line and facilitate collaboration with all stakeholders throughout the planning process.

  • Manage itinerary revisions in order to resolve and overcome unexpected challenges and situations that occur on a day-to-day basis throughout the planning process

  • Manage deployment and itinerary communications throughout the planning process and lifecycle, including Itinerary Change Notification (ICN) notifications

  • Manage deployment and itinerary analysis and reporting as required to support commercial needs.

  • Create compelling itineraries with particular emphasis on commercial profitability, safety, operational feasibility and operating cost efficiency.

  • Provide general support and work on special projects, as prescribed by the Director of Deployment and Itinerary Planning

  • Responsible for ensuring that the planning process properly considers all relevant commercial, marketing, financial, nautical, safety, environmental and other operational aspects.

  • Assist in fuel conservation efforts related to deployment & itinerary planning, including calculation and analysis of fleet fuel consumption data.

  • Perform voyage safety & risk assessments as needed for Seabourn Cruise Line.

  • Provide itinerary planning support and act as liaison to the Charter and Incentive Sales department.

  • Research existing and potential destinations including all technical & nautical aspects, marketing prospects, tour potential and costs (travel required).

  • Perform port assessments and shepherd the approval process for new destinations (travel may be required)

  • Act as deployment & itinerary planning subject matter expert within the company and the industry. Attend committee meetings and planning meetings as needed to fulfill this role. Attend conferences and forums as needed to fulfill this role (travel may be required).

  • Manage deployment & itinerary planning data in mission critical systems such as MXP and Transas.

  • Manage the development, introduction and implementation of deployment & itinerary planning technology.

  • Create new business processes and roadmaps needed to achieve deployment & itinerary planning goals and increase efficiency.


  • Bachelor's degree in Navigation and/or Nautical Engineering

  • Licensed navigational officer (All Ships)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a senior navigation officer, preferably on a Seabourn Cruise Line or Holland America Line vessel

  • Comprehensive nautical and technical knowledge of vessel operations, procedures and management structure.

  • A thorough understanding of cruise ship operations and management.

  • A thorough understanding of cruise destinations. The ability to evaluate a destination's qualification from multiple perspectives and disciplines (i.e. marketing, operations & tour)

  • Skilled in the usage of nautical (planning) software and hardware, such as Transas.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the cruise industry in general and an understanding of events and trends that shape and drive the cruise industry

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Ability and confidence to speak to large audiences.

  • Excellent computer skills, advanced proficiency in Excel (formulaic)

  • Strong organizational and management skills with attention to detail

  • Knowledge and understanding of deployment and itinerary planning data management tools such as eFleet and MXP

  • Understanding of the Safety Management System, specifically in regards to Maritime, Safety, Regulatory and Environmental issues

  • Valid passport and ability to travel

The DPM partners with facilities and Enterprise Operations (EOps) teams to manage the deployment of innovative spaces that help drive collaboration and communication company wide. Deployments include a variety of technology, audio visual and video conferencing systems, printers, digital wayfinding, production events spaces, specialty demo spaces and more. The project management component includes project leadership, planning, execution, control, data integrity, financial responsibility, and project closeout. RESPONSIBILITIES * Essential Functions: * Manage at least 8 projects simultaneously as the main point of contact representing Enterprise Engineering New Builds * Apply technology standards as appropriate throughout the design phase and ensure consistent application throughout the lifecycle of a project across several verticals * Work collaboratively across multiple organizations representing the New Builds team * Collaborate closely with a project coordinator to maintain a clearly documented project that can be followed internally throughout the lifecycle of a project * Maintain alignment with the Portfolio Managers Project Management: * Regularly measure, monitor, and report on project progress * Manage the design drawings, timelines, scope, and standards throughout the lifecycle of the project * Attend technical build meetings and drive technology needs in the space * Manage all aspects of financial tracking including budget, purchase orders, invoices, and variances * Accountable for providing the project sponsor and stakeholders with a routine status of the projects and actively communicating and mitigating technical risks and issues * Coordinate with facilities teams, Enterprise Engineering New Builds/Operations, and Remote Site Engineering (network team) on overall project timelines, dependencies, and risks/issues * Travel expected to be 30-40% Technical Design and Deployment: * Apply Facebook standards in determining the design, bill of materials, and drawings for new offices * Use drafting software to markup architectural drawings with electrical and data symbols * Consult with Design Engineering/SMEs for non-standard spaces * Engage with third party vendors for hardware procurement, scheduling, and integration * Manage onsite integration for all new builds * Remove roadblocks for technicians on-site during deployment * Perform testing and commissioning handovers from Facebook commissioning technician and third-party vendors MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * 3+ years of experience in project management Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Budget and Cost management experience Knowledge of project lifecycles and project phases Experience in working across multiple teams Experience working independently Communication experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * 1 year of experience with CAD, Vectorworks or other drafting software equivalent Experience with construction drawings and schematics Experience with construction builds and project management in office builds Data Center build/construction experience Experience with typical office technologies – Cisco AV/VC, Crestron, HP Printers, Wayfinding, etc. Understanding of audio & video signal flow Basic understanding of networking technology Facebook Seattle WA
