Wage Range: $116,522 - $186,430 per year

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary

The Manager of Decision Support is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Decision Support department and its staff, ensuring the effective management of Decision Support systems and processes. This role involves leading both department-wide and organization-wide initiatives, including costing updates, staff meetings, and system upgrades/implementations. The Manager ensures the integrity and maintenance of various systems used for clinical, financial, and other types of analysis. Key responsibilities include providing expertise in the development of business plans for new or expanded services throughout the organization. Proactively identify information needs within the organization and respond to requests for diverse analyses of operations. Supports the Director of Finance in completing the annual operating and capital budgets, as well as the long-term forecast. Applies expert knowledge of operational improvement principles, clinical process and outcomes measurement, and fiscal management and analysis.

Primary Duties:

  • Provides direction and oversight for the methodology, data collection and analysis, data validation and report preparation to facilitate and support financial analyses.

  • Develops efficient tools to maximize data appropriateness, consistency and timeliness, and minimizes the burden of data collection and analysis.

  • Works directly with physicians, senior executive leadership and professional staff throughout the medical center regarding ad-hoc requests for information to support high level administrative and clinical decision making; acts as a teaching resource around data collection, analysis and reporting issues.

  • Provides leadership to the cost allocation process including; Identifies and resolves cost allocation issues; ensures that all direct and overhead costs are allocated correctly to patient data; Ensures that cost to charge ratios by individual charge master item are reasonable.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 years' experience in healthcare finance

  • Familiarity with management of accounts receivable, insurance contracting and Medicare regulations related to physician practices

  • Must have ability to communicate information technology requirements to technical support/ system design experts

  • Working knowledge of and experience using and applying decision support methodologies and principles

  • Prior experience with project management, change management and process improvement methods.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be a strong collaborator.

  • Strong leadership skills, a commitment to maintaining high standards of system integrity, and an initiative-taking approach to identifying and meeting the organization's information needs.

DESIRED for the position:

  • 3 years of management or leadership experience
