Astellas is announcing a Manager Data Stewardship Operations opportunity in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope of Position:

The role will support the Lead of the Data Governance Operations Office to ensure effective data management, change management, data standards and solutions. This individual must collaborate not only within the AIA group, but across all divisions, enabling and aligning data management initiatives and processes. Data Stewardship operations support the adoption, management and maintenance of tools and assets that support the Data Governance Operational Office. The role interacts with business areas and ensures that business and technical stewards understand and execute their roles and responsibilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with business areas to align local data governance activities to enterprise data governance policies, processes and standards

  • Perform complex data analysis to support data management decision-making for enterprise-wide data that considers requirements from multiple, disparate stakeholders

  • Coordinate the tracking and documentation of all technical and business metadata

  • Participate in identifying and proposing solutions for data quality issues and change requests

  • Manage, publish and maintain the data dictionary and metadata

  • Track, monitor and publish data quality scorecards

  • Help ensure alignment of data quality activities to business and data governance strategies

  • Identify process improvement opportunities

  • Gather business area level data quality metrics for consumption at the data governance operations office and data governance committee level

  • Coordinate with data stewards throughout the organization for transparency, support and status

  • Stay current with the latest solutions, industry trends, standards, security and privacy policies and business applications in Data Governance

Organizational Context:

This position reports to the Director Global Data Governance within the Advanced Informatics and Analytics organization. This is a new position.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS/BA (Information Management preferred)

  • Experience in data governance/data architecture/data management

  • Strong understanding of data tools (cleansing, master data management

  • Understanding of data governance processes and principles

  • Strong process viewpoint and the ability to effectively communicate ideas and input

  • Experience writing business rules

  • Experience writing data quality rules

  • Experience writing business requirements

  • Ability to balance business needs with IT capabilities

  • Excellent root cause analysis skills

  • Experience with data governance applications

Preferred:

  • Experience with business process improvement

  • Credibility within the business

  • Collibra Experience

  • Pharmaceutical or other regulated experience

  • Experience working for global company

Astellas is announcing a Senior Manager, Data Repositories opportunity in Northbrook, IL. Purpose & Scope: Implements and accountable for data solutions to address Medical Affairs business needs, working in partnership with all Medical Affairs entities, Development, Finance, Legal, Compliance and IT. Manages and leads complex projects and/or applications within Medical Affairs. Manages and leads data operations and data quality within Medical Affairs data repositories in support of operational excellence. Essential Job Responsibilities: * Leads in defining Medical Affairs application and support requirements and documents IT requirements across Medical Affairs data repositories, including but not limited to Phase 3b/4 operational data, Non-Interventional studies (NIS), Core Medical Plan tactics and technology, Medical Education / Grants, Post-hoc analyses, Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), Advisory Boards and related Medical Informatics. * Leads and manages data repository projects and related activities. * Manages and leads small to large-size data repository projects (< 250K USD) and provides ongoing updates or change notifications to Medical Affairs representatives and stakeholders * Leads and manages support tools to assist in collection of data to be integrated with data warehouse solutions across the enterprise. * Ensures IT developed solutions meet the business needs of Medical Affairs and other key stakeholders (e.g., Development, Finance, Legal, Compliance). * Leads and manages data operations such as data extraction, data aggregation and data cleansing for data stored in MA data repositories to enable standardization to support Data Governance and Metrics & Reporting needs. * Assesses whether agreed upon Medical Affairs business rules and data governance SOPs are implemented in systems developed by IT and informs appropriate stakeholders. * Responsible for managing and monitoring QA/QC of data and reports findings to stakeholders. * Responsible for project delivery and provides ongoing updates or change notifications to Medical Affairs representatives and stakeholders. * Support and direct other team members to support their development and success. Quantitative Dimensions: * Accuracy of analytics and reporting data as required by stakeholders * Successful communication of change, delays and outages to all MA stakeholders Qualifications: Required * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Data Science required. * At least 5 years' experience in healthcare industry, with at least 3 years in a data/science analytics role. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with all levels of the organization. * Strong leadership, project and relationship management skills. * Demonstrated collaboration in a matrix organization. * Ability to manipulate complex data sets and with an appropriate set of programming tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Java, SAS, Unix and/or Hadoop). * Recognizes problem situations and uses both formal and informal methods to find solutions. * Demonstrated ability in taking initiative to proactively evaluate existing strategies and processes and recommend changes, when appropriate. * Highly innovative and ability to propose and implement best-fit solutions leveraging current resources. * Extensive computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, SharePoint, Access, Visio, Project and PowerPoint. * Ability to translate between technical and business management to effectively achieve results. * Recognizes problem situations and uses both formal and informal methods to find solutions.
