The Senior Manager of Data Analytics is a high-profile position serving as a key IT partner to various corporate business areas. This individual must be highly technical, with a strong understanding of business intelligence and analytical tools. In addition to a deep technical skill set, this individual, must be able to work with business partners to deliver the best data-oriented solutions within business timelines. Oversees a combined on-shore/ off-shore team responsible for the design, development and maintenance of Analytical solutions.


  • Leads in building data analytics platform, tools, processes, and solutions.

  • Assists in the development of a Corporate Data Strategy. This strategy will include how best to leverage ETL, CDC, data warehousing, data marts, operational data stores, enterprise analytics.

  • Partners with functional teams to deploy Analytical insights and solutions.

  • Maintains productive working relationships with project sponsors and key systems users.

  • Ensures that solution delivery meets service level agreements.

  • Actively participates in enterprise-level data governance activities.

  • Develops strong relationships with key data vendors.

  • Stays current on software development techniques and recommends improvements to current processes to support application development efforts.

  • Prepares and executes project plans, as required, to ensure timely and cost-effective resource management.

  • Oversees and participates in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Recommends audit and review systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and standards.

  • Responsible for the employment, promotion, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling and discipline of employees.

  • Manages competing priorities, workloads and activities to achieve multiple project objectives.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.


  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field. (Required). Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in enterprise-level IT functions. (Required)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing large enterprise data initiatives and teams through all phases of the project lifecycle. (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years working with enterprise-grade data solutions. (Required)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar management role. (Required)

  • Experience managing a team comprised of offshore and local members.

  • Experience with data movement tools (IBM's Data Stage, Informatica, etc.).

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, Hyperion, Qlik, Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft PowerBI etc.).

  • Experience with multiple database technologies (Oracle, SQL server, Teradata, MongoDB, Cassandra, MarkLogic, DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora etc.).

  • Experience with scripting languages (Microsoft SSIS, Oracle PL/SQL).

  • Experience with Oracle's Hyperion Essbase.

  • Experience with Big Data architectures, data lakes and big data ecosystem of tools (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Storm, Cloudera, Hbase, HDFS, AWS stack etc.).

  • Experience with Python, Scala, R etc.

  • Experience with Predictive Analytics and Forecasting.

  • Strong analytical skills and focus on bottom-line results.

  • Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization.

  • Strong skills related to building and improving collaboration among departments.

  • Ability to interpret, evaluate and communicate detailed information in a manner that is appropriate to the audience.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong motivational, coaching and teaching skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to contribute to the creation and review of an information systems strategy and organization-wide technical architecture


  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in enterprise-level IT projects, operations and support.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing large enterprise data initiatives and project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Minimum 5 years working with enterprise-grade data solutions.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar supervisory or management roles.

Manages and troubleshoots the design and development of software and processes to support large scale, efficient data pipelines. Supports dashboarding efforts, data science and engagement projects, and production support as needed. 7. Translates business specifications into design specifications and code. Responsible for writing complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports. Ensures that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse. 8. Develops and exercises cross-functional data delivery to support business needs. Manages data integrity and quality standards. 9. Educates and develops junior data engineers on the team while applying quality control to their work. Develops data engineering standards and contributes expertise to other data expert teams across Vanguard. 10. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
