POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Data Analytics is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the design and execution of data-driven strategies. This individual will be a member of the IT Leadership Team and day-to-day will manage a team of developers and data analysts to collect, process, and interpret complex data sets, turning insights into actionable business decisions. They will work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and implement analytics solutions that drive efficiency and growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, data analysis, and project management, with a proven ability to translate data into meaningful information that can influence strategic decision-making. They should also possess excellent communication skills to effectively present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The Manager of Data Analytics should ideally have the following key experiences:

  • Application and Business Reporting: Experience in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting financial and operational business reports including financial, operational, commercial, and sales and delivery applications.

  • Data Analysis: Extensive experience in analyzing large, complex data sets and converting them into insights that drive business decisions.

  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a team of data analysts or scientists. This includes mentoring, guiding, and fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.

  • Strategic Thinking: Experience in developing and implementing data-driven strategies that align with the company's objectives.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and experience with development tools like Business Objects and Crystal Reports is necessary. Data visualization with Power BI or similar tool is required, and experience in data warehousing technologies such as Azure or Snowflake will provide the necessary technical foundation.

  • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple projects concurrently, including both Agile & Waterfall methodologies, with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Oil and Gas business is beneficial.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science or other similar disciple is required.

  • Master's Degree is a plus.

  • Technology Certifications are a plus. Including but not limited to:

  • SQL, programming languages, technical architectures, data management.

  • PMP/PMI project management certification is a plus.

  • Cloud certification from Microsoft, AWS, or Google are a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in English, oral and written is required.

  • 8+ years in information technology required.

  • 5-7 years in the application/solution development experience in a professional environment a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in design, development and delivery of a Business Intelligence and Operational Reporting framework required.

  • 3-5 years of leading a reporting development team a plus.

  • 3+ years in Agile project delivery required.

  • Technical Skills Preferred:

  • SQL, Python, R.

  • Business Objects, Crystal Reports.

  • Microsoft Azure.

  • EDW tools such as Snowflake, Teradata, or similar.

  • Power BI.

  • Experience in operating in cloud services technologies such as Azure, AWS, Google a plus.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

A Manager of Reporting typically has the following main accountabilities:

  • Manage team for break / fix & enhancement support of existing report inventory.

  • Participate in IT Leadership Team meetings and represent reporting and analytics capabilities for IT.

  • Meet with internal business customers on a frequent basis to gather priorities and manage delivery to meet holistic business objectives.

  • Develop, generate, and manage high-quality reports that effectively communicate data and insights. Analyze reports to identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern.

  • Oversee the collection, validation, and storage of data to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Continually evaluate reporting processes and tools to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.

  • Develop and manage budgets for reporting team.

  • Manage report availability and performance.

  • Drive incident resolution for report and analytics tickets.

  • Manage data architecture and all environments including dev, test, prod, DR, and backups.

  • Regularly communicate work progress, concerns, and questions.

  • Work with finance and 3rd party vendors to validate monthly costs.

  • Manage 3rd party vendors and contracts when applicable.

  • Communicate and collaborate with partners in the business and 3rd-party providers to ensure customer satisfaction through transparency and issue resolution.

  • Investigate opportunities to leverage automation tools to simplify and accelerate the operations process.

The expected results for a Manager of Data Analytics includes:

  • Develop Strategy: Formulate and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Support Current Reporting: Maintain and enhance the current reporting system to ensure it continues to provide accurate and timely information.

  • Develop Roadmap: Create a strategic roadmap for the data analytics team that outlines key initiatives, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Build Team to Deliver: Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing data analytics team capable of delivering on the strategic roadmap.

  • Support Projects: Provide data analytics support for various projects across the organization, ensuring they have the data and insights needed to succeed.

  • Provide Analytics: Deliver actionable analytics and insights that inform decision-making and drive business performance.

  • Be Part of IT Leadership: Actively participate in IT leadership activities, contributing to the overall IT strategy and promoting the value of data analytics within the organization.
