The Manager of Customs Compliance is responsible for ensuring both import and export compliance for TaylorMade's North American Operations and will assist with other global destinations as needed. This position will oversee daily cross border processes between the United States, Canada, and Mexico working with both freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely customs clearance. In addition, this position will oversee exports from North American Facilities to the Rest of the World (ROW). This position must foster strong collaborative relationships with internal teams (Fulfillment, Operations, Logistics, Finance, Legal) as well as external partners (suppliers, customs brokers, logistics providers), and third-party service providers located in TaylorMade Facilities.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay up-to-date and monitor US, Canada, and Mexico, update team as required

  • Communicate daily with U.S. Brokers making sure all US CBP regulations are being met. Provide guidance and direction to make sure US Customs Entries are being accurately and on time

  • Communicate regularly with Canadian customs broker to ensure compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Revenue Management (CARM) regulations. Access and manage CARM Client Portal

  • Classify HTS to the 10-digit level for US and Canada, determine country of origin, maintain data in internal systems, regularly provide updated parts database to brokers to ensure smooth customs clearance

  • Maintain CTPAT Security and Trade Compliance Profiles for USA Importer and Security requirements for Mexican Manufacturer Facility. Conduct risk assessment, CTPAT vendor questionnaires and audits, ensure compliance with 2020 Minimum Security Criteria through supply chain and provide problem resolution as needed

  • Update and distribute Import, Export, and CTPAT Manual and Procedures, create work instruction for daily responsibilities.

  • Manage duty drawback program, ensure customs bonds are accurate for submissions

  • Determine if TMG product is eligible for GSP, retain internal GSP determination worksheet, ensure vendor declaration is updated on a yearly basis, provide broker with update list of products that qualify

  • Audit Canadian GST weekly to validate valuation for customs compliance

  • Supervise ACH program to ensure the correct amount of money is taken out of TaylorMade Golf ACH account, audit data, report results to finance monthly

  • Create, manage, and audit CAPEX assist program, work with finance and sourcing to maintain asset log, report assists to Customs

  • Create, manage, and audit golf ball tooling program for joint venture in Taiwan, as well as additional supplier in Korea

  • Manage daily multi-port transportation lane from North American Distribution Center to end customer in Canada, ensure trucks are booked and depart in compliance with CTPAT regulations

  • Oversee daily multi-port cross border process and documentation from manufacturing facility in Mexico to end customer in Canada

  • Oversee exports from Golf Ball Facility to Rest of World, ensure bookings are made correctly and paperwork is provided

  • Monitor Mexico-US cross border valuation, perform reconciliation audits

  • Oversee in-bond shipments from foreign suppliers to manufacturing facility

  • Manage and maintain Quebec Permits for stuffed articles, ensure vendor permits are up to date, provide labeling requirements and updates to vendor

  • Update and maintain brokerage (entered value/duty) related key performance indicators in Domo

  • Supervise Senior Import Clerk and Senior Export Clerk, including managing duties, work hours, timecards, PTO requests, performance evaluations, act as backup

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with duty drawback

  • Understanding of all laws and regulations regarding the importation of goods, including USMCA, FCC, FDA, US Customs, Canada Customs, Border Protection standards, and ISA membership requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading, inspiring, and developing collaborative, high functioning teams, both directly and cross-functionally.

  • Ability to accurately assess talent and effectively motivate and influence others to build skills, efficiently accomplish tasks, and develop leading edge processes.

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or other related field
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in logistics, imports/exports
  • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions; heavy phone and computer use

  • Ability to regularly work after hours and weekends

  • Occasional travel required (estimated 20%)

  • Office environment, consistent computer usage

  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
