YOUR MISSION:

Oversees customs regulatory compliance and duty savings operations for the imports and exports for the assigned organizations and ensures the company is operating best practices related to day to day compliance with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for import compliance and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for export control compliance. Facilitates relations with customs brokers, compliance partners, and CBP under the concept of informed compliance and reasonable care.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Oversees import and export regulatory compliance processes, including HTS (Harmonized Tariff schedule) classification, valuation, and country of origin issues

  • Supports foreign trade zone execution and issues to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security requirements and all related activities.

  • Ensures compliance with partner government agency requirements such as TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), FCC (Federal Communications Commission), APHIS (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service), and others.

  • Supervises process for export control compliance including ECCN (Export Control Classification Number), Schedule B, and party screening.

  • Increases knowledge of product lines to support the compliance functions.

  • Support Finance in resolving ACH (Automated Clearing House) allocations related to customs duties.

  • Oversees transmission of classification and information to brokers and filers.

  • Manages and monitors broker/filer performance, evaluating new brokers for compliance.

  • Creates standard operating procedures for brokers and monitor execution.

  • Prepares and submit replies to CBP requests for information and penalty notices.

  • Reviews completed compliance tasks and post entry amendments/protests.

  • Ensures company's certification and compliance with CTPAT Security, CTPAT Trade Compliance, and Forced Labor programs.

  • Directs self-audits and support annual reports to customs.

  • Leads and manages the team responsible for ensuring daily adherence to customs regulations and laws, while also identifying opportunities for duty savings.

  • Oversees ACE Trade Account as owner; and support reporting requirements.

  • Establishes compliance manuals and procedures (in compliance with the Companies Global and North American policies) to assist in the day to day operations of a compliance department.

MUST-HAVES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification in customs compliance (e.g., CCS, CES) preferred.

  • Must be Licensed Customs Broker and maintain knowledge of government regulations. Five (5) plus years of experience in trade compliance. Three (3) plus years of supervisory / leadership experience.

  • Preference for foreign trade zone knowledge and experience.

  • Strong classification and import entry process a must.

  • Knowledge of electronic components and consumer electronics is a plus. Excellent computer skills.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Mexico import/export requirements , pedimento filings and brokerage network.

  • Must possess strong ability to analyze issues, manage solutions and projects with little support. Activities may include data analysis, trade compliance activities or systems.
