JOB SUMMARY

The Customer Financial Services Manager will be responsible for managing the company's trade credit risk, timely collection efforts, and delinquency control while delivering an outstanding customer experience. This role will additionally be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Customer Financial Services department, which includes managing, selecting, developing, training, and evaluating the performance of team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides leadership, supervision, technical guidance, and instruction to credit and collections team members; fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement

  • Researches, develops, and facilitates collection procedures according to company policies

  • Develops and maintains effective customer onboarding processes while delivering an outstanding customer experience

  • Establishes and manages scalable, dynamic trade credit assessment and management systems and processes

  • Ensures timely and accurate provision of billing and statement to customers

  • Negotiates with customers to amend repayment terms, as appropriate

  • Develops and utilizes an effective dunning program to maintain timely collection while ensuring legal compliance and customer goodwill

  • Builds and sustains multifunctional relationships to address larger, material customers

  • Establishes and maintains a cost-effective 3rd party collection apparatus for collection of doubtful accounts

  • Recommends legal action for specific accounts and follows through as necessary

  • Ensures the security and privacy of customer information and files

  • Provides accurate reporting and ensures compliance with applicable financial reporting standards

  • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location

  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience managing a credit or collections team required

  • National Association of Credit Management (NACM) accreditation preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead others with or without formal reporting authority, with strong level of confidentiality

  • Ability to exercise integrity and discretion

  • Ability to remain professional in confrontational conversations

  • Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work to strict deadlines

  • Proactive, well-organized, and effective time management skills with the ability to lead and participate in multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Understanding of state and federal laws pertaining to collection activities

  • Excellent verbal, written, and reading comprehension skills

  • Ability to ensure accountability and instill trust with employees by following through on commitments and making sure others do the same

  • Ability to build rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way across various levels of the organization

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently

  • Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking

  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects

  • Ability to verbally communicate, see, and hear
