GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This key leadership position, reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, leads a team of professionals responsible for ensuring that American Equity's culture is clear, positive, inspiring and empowering. The Manager of Culture, Internal Communications and Events leads evolution of ways of working and collaborating to optimally support execution of our strategy; and influences leader, manager, and team member alignment and facilitates their action as ambassadors, cultivators and stewards of our values. The Manager leads the team in developing, promoting and implementing programs that balance team member needs for connection, challenge, and growth, establishing an emotional connection between our Company's mission and our valued employees: what we are, who we are, and why we are; ensures we collectively express and prove out our unique culture at each employee touchpoint, measuring effectiveness to prioritize how we invest in our people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Invigorates our Culture:

  • Actively collaborates with all levels of the organization to inform, reinforce, and put into practice the behaviors that support our culture and ultimately enhance productivity and the achievement of our strategy.

Supports hiring of Best-fit Talent:

  • Responsible for capturing our culture in a clear and compelling employment brand and employee value proposition.

  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to ensure hiring managers are equipped to select candidates who will thrive in the American Equity culture.

Leads Team Member Communications:

  • Leads the team responsible for setting the tone for, and managing content and effectiveness of, communications with employees.

  • Ensures messaging is aligned to our culture and strategy, stratifying messages to optimize audience absorption.

  • Inspires the team to use a broad and innovative range of two-way communications mechanisms to ensure employees are fully engaged in the American Equity story and have the information they need to contribute their best and be their best.

  • Collaborates with marketing, investor relations, and other partners to achieve clear, cohesive messaging across platforms-One American Equity story.

Positively Impacts Retention, Recognition, Engagement and Events:

  • Leads the team that ideates, plans and executes internal events that allow employees to celebrate their collective pride, teamwork, and accomplishments.

  • Oversees employee recognition and employee engagement programs, maximizing the power of positive psychology and strengths-based leadership.

  • Advances initiatives that motivate and recognize a diverse and growing employee base, and delivers on our employee promise of equity and inclusion.

  • Integrates employee wellness programming as a component of culture and engagement.

  • Collaborates with external communications and marketing team regarding sponsorships, charitable giving and volunteer relationships with nonprofit organizations to maximize employee connection and impact with our communities.

  • Works directly with executives to provide strategic counsel related to charitable giving program including alignment to mission and culture.

Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development.

Accountable for prudent management of departmental expenses by establishing and monitoring a department budget in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Performs other related work as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Reports: Mgr, Internal Events, Mgr, Communications

Indirect Reports: Four (4) indirect reports that include Events Coordinator, Graphic Production Artist, Graphic Designer and a Writer.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree plus at least 10 years progressively responsible related experience in culture and communications field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

MBA or advanced degree preferred.

6+ years leadership experience required.

Broad range of applied communications experience including PR preferred.

Enterprise Investigations, a division of the Conduct Management, is responsible for protecting Wells Fargo's assets, brand, and reputation by investigating allegations of team member or contingent worker misconduct specific to potential violations of law or dishonest acts. This Enterprise Investigator position will be supporting the Internal Investigations group within Wells Fargo Conduct Management, Enterprise Investigations.
