Job Title: Manager, Credit & Collections

The Manager, Credit & Collections, will oversee all US credit and collections functions, with some oversight of Canada. This person will monitor corporate credit policies ensuring alignment with current industry trends, as well as partner and recommend credit decisions on high-value, high-volume, and high-risk accounts. The role is accountable for monitoring and reporting the company's credit exposure and manages all activity related to credit evaluation, collection and dispute resolution.
Scope and Complexity
Works on issues of limited scope. Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Monitors daily operations of a unit or sub-unit. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.
Facilitates the use of global credit insurance to minimize A/R risk
Maintains financial systems within the order-to-cash cycle including credit check routines, EDI with customers, chargeback processing, and risk management software. Pursues continuous development of automated technologies to minimize department costs
Forecasts inbound cash flow and manages corporate cash flow objectives
Leads a credit team to achieve operational excellence and drive continuous improvement. Develops employees through goal setting linked to overall finance and job specific functions, focusing on growing talent and building a strong team
Reviews monthly credit reports for senior management, determines status of collections and outstanding balances, and evaluates effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures
Collaborates with Sales team to pursue continuous improvement and ease of doing business to meet or exceed customer needs and to further overall company goals. Establishes credit within appropriate limits and maintains customer relationships with key accounts for continued revenue generation
Assigns accounts to collection agencies or attorneys for further pursuit. Prepares bad debt write-offs.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant prior experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
CBA, CBF, or CCE certification preferred
Footwear/Outdoor industry experience preferred
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience
Proven track record of improving DSO and cash flow
Travel required, domestically and internationally (Canada). Estimated travel time will be 10% or less or work hours
