In this position, the Manager, Corporate Tax will work in a challenging, fast-paced and dynamic environment, reporting to the Controller & Director of Accounting. You will have the opportunity to impact business decisions working directly with Business Leaders, Sales, Operations, Finance and Legal teams across the entire organization. We operate a national organization with attendant tax compliance and reporting requirements in various jurisdictions across the country. You will develop and gain valuable experiences in a wide range of tax disciplines including federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning.
Provide leadership and oversight for all tax matters
Recruit, train, develop and mentor tax professionals and ensure expertise and talent succession plan is in place
Identify, evaluate and consult with tax advisors to best position the Company with respect to tax planning strategies.
Manage tax risk and tax controversy
Ensure corporate tax policies and procedures support the Company's governance and business objectives.
Partner with accounting/finance and business personnel to identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
Play an active role in the development of tax planning strategies, including those related to changing tax laws and regulations.
Ensure the corporation maintains up-to-date tax expertise and awareness of federal, state and international tax laws and their impact on the company.
Lead, manage and supervise all aspects of quarterly and annual accounting for income taxes and related financial reporting.
Ensure proper application of ASC 740 and other tax accounting pronouncements, including those related to uncertain tax positions. Manage financial close cycle calendar in coordination with the Company's accounting organization.
Maintain strong relationship with external auditors. Interface with outside tax consultants (accounting and tax counsel) and other professional associates related to all tax matters.
Provide oversight and coordination for the annual preparation of tax returns and defense of returns upon audit by tax authorities, including those related to income tax and state/local tax
Work closely with other business functions to efficiently obtain required tax data and automate tax reporting processes and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
A minimum of 7+years of relevant experience, with 3+ of those years in a leadership role.
Multi State/Multi Entity tax experience
Sales/Use and Property tax experience
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in performing tasks.
Demonstrated human relations and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Advanced computer skills in spreadsheet, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs.
Previous supervisory experience, including hiring, evaluating, managing and disciplining employees
