Position Purpose:

  • Provides leadership in design, development, monitoring, implementation, and contract management of commercial energy solutions (CES), specifically in purchased power, distributed generation, energy efficiency, and/or electric utility pricing. Lead significant collaboration with partner organizations to develop strategies and solutions while ensuring ethical and legal compliance of all solutions developed. Must possess keen understanding of the dynamic utility marketplace and drivers influencing new commercial solutions.
  • O&RS Manager position will be responsible for developing strategy framework, communications, branding and promotion plans, and renewable energy certificate portfolio management and compliance. Requires public speaking and frequent interaction with internal and external stakeholders/customers, including media.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Up to 10 Program Managers, Specialists, Analysts, Consultants, Associates

Budget Responsibility

  • Up to $100 million annually

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Lead CES process implementation and improvements aligned with and supporting TVA, CES, and other relevant strategies.

  • Facilitate development of high-value commercial solutions and enhancement of value for existing contracts and solutions.

  • Oversee plans and strategies for test marketing new solutions and market introduction.

  • Responsible for management, monitoring, and enhancement of solutions aligned with market offerings.

  • Ensure CES compliance with Board standards and legal and ethical requirements.

  • Lead stakeholder engagements on CES programs with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Enforce contract requirements.

  • Ensure a diverse work force and a work environment free of discrimination and harassment where employees are encouraged to develop to their full potential.

  • Provides leadership that ensures high innovation, cooperation, employee morale, and creatvitiy.

  • Ensures that the workplace and work practices are safe and free of hazardous situations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education
  • BS Degree in engineering, business, mathematics, natural science, or environmental science discipline is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience
  • At least 10 years utility experience with a focus on customer service, commercial product development, implementation, and program management, analysis and technology. Experience leading/managing teams. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop effective communications with senior and executive level, other business units, and external stakeholders. Successful experience and proven record working with customers and external stakeholdres. Experience leading cross-functional teams and leading in a matrixed organization desired.
  • Certification/License, etc
  • N/A; however North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioner (NABCEP) is beneficial to renewable energy positions.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Must possess well-developed skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, and oral and written communications. Comprehensive knowledge of utility operations, utility marketplace dynamices, utility finance / analytics, and/or energy technologies and marketing. Ability to develop and lead new programs, including strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
