Management of the CoC-Engineering Department, which is responsible for the design and application engineering of Knorr equipment. Responsibilities include supervising and providing technical guidance to, and for monitoring the performance of, all engineers within the group, timely completion of engineering documentation, performance calculations, and for providing budget estimates and schedules in support of proposals, and for new and existing work. Will be responsible for providing the necessary training and education for group members to allow them to keep abreast of current technologies in their respective fields, so that work is performed in the most effective manner.
Responsible for development of the company 'standard' hardware, working closely with purchasing and manufacturing, as well as Knorr-Bremse CoC's.
Supervising and providing technical guidance and support to Engineers, Designers, and Team Leaders.
Monitoring the performance of the group.
Providing budget estimates and schedules in support of new and existing work.
Providing the necessary training and education for group members to allow them to keep abreast of current technologies.
Review and approve engineering documentation generated by the group.
Support Other departments such as S&S and Rail Services in customer discussions and review meetings or CoC-Operations and manufacturing engineering in support of internal improvement efforts.

Technical and Professional Requirements
Broad experience and good theoretical knowledge of engineering principles:
Physics (Strength of materials, stress analysis, etc.)
Reliability, maintainability, safety and human factors
Software Experience: Should understand software development process and capabilities of microprocessor based systems
Business Experience: Must have good business sense.
Make good business decisions
Knowledge and practical understanding of brake or similar equipment and principles
Experience with ground mobile equipment preferred
Experience with design of mechanical systems and components
Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems
Must understand and practice good organization and configuration management skills
Leadership and Teamwork:
Demonstrated leadership in project environment
Must be able to clearly define requirements and expectations to others (Project Manager, Customer, Engineers, Purchasing, etc.)
Must be able to work well in a team environment both internally and with customers.
Must be an effective negotiator (Internal departments, European partners Customers, End Users)
Strong problem solving and trouble shooting abilities
Must have a strong desire to succeed with high expectations, both of themselves and others
Professional Writing: Must be able to write clear and precise documents
Must be able to read a large volume of material (usually customer specifications) and ascertain the salient points
Manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
Must have effective communications and presentations skills

Knowledge of German language is desirable.
Must be energetic, hard working and willing to put in an extra effort when required.
Flexibility: Must be able to travel on short notice and sometimes for several weeks at a time (normally travel should be 20% or less).
