Job Summary Assists in the administration of two or more laboratory sections at multiple sites. Provides leadership to all lab staff, coordinates administrative, fiscal and technical activities and assumes 24 hour accountability for each section. Implements clinical protocols, standards of patient care and quality assurance programs. Consults with Medical Director or designee on medical and technical issues and Director Laboratory and Outreach Services

Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor#s degree in Medical Technology or appropriate laboratory discipline. # Experience 3 years clinical laboratory experience; 2 years supervisory experience preferred. # License/Certification/Registration ASCP registration or equivalent preferred. # Knowledge, Skills # Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Collects data and does comparative analyses of work units; may participate in research activities; investigates new products, equipment, methodologies and introduces, demonstrates and recommends as appropriate. Communicates with medical staff and other health care providers on matters relating to sectional services. Coordinates programs (e.g. Safety, Performance Improvement etc.). Supports the implementation of new programs. Counsels associates effectively and collaborates with the Administrative Director and Human Resources to utilize the coaching/counseling process. Directs and/or delegates documentation, implementation of records system, maintains sectional records, reports, statistics, logs and files. Manages and coordinates technical functions and activities in two or more technical sections of the clinical laboratory at multiple sites. Manages procurement activities including vendor selection, purchasing, receiving, storage, utilization of equipment, materials and supplies. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Performs clinical testing on patients/specimens as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Recommends sectional operating budget and ensures that each section operates within budget. Selects, trains, orients and assigns sectional staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance in a timely manner and ensures that appraisals reflect the individuals# ability to meet performance expectations. Maintains ongoing communication with Team leaders and Sr. Med Techs in order to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments and exchange information. Demonstrates and fosters customer relations in keeping with the organization#s specific goals and standards.
