Department Overview

The Clean Energy Transportation (CET) group is focused on accelerating the adoption of clean vehicles in California. CET leads a ~$0.5B portfolio of transportation electrification (TE) programs to increase the adoption of clean vehicles in California as we work to address one of the largest contributors to climate change - and we need a motivated, organized Program Office lead to help us execute on this portfolio. We serve PG&E's customers by deploying electric vehicle programs to increase access to charging infrastructure, reduce total cost of electric vehicle ownership, educating our customers and pursuing innovative R&D on the future of transportation electrification, focused on vehicle-grid-integration.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for cost, compliance, and schedule management of the entire EV portfolio - pilots, programs, and customer initiatives. This includes reporting, forecasting, governance, program controls, contract and document administration, data utilization, and IT project oversight to ensure end to end program success across the portfolio. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading and driving cross-functional initiatives to ensure we're incorporating our EV True North Strategy in relevant reporting and forecasting enterprise-wide.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $144,000

Bay Area Maximum: $244,000

Job Responsibilities

The Manager will report to the Director of Clean Energy Transportation and will lead a team focused on end-to-end oversight of EV programs and our EV True North Strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership

  • Provide vision and guidance to the team to create an exciting and productive environment to which employees want to join and contribute toward business targets

  • Foster a collaborative and speak up culture that drives transparency

  • Direct resources to meet safety, compliance, labor, and budget goals

  • Cost and Schedule Management

  • Lead team to build and leverage strong lean reporting and governance tools to drive progress against CET and cross-team KPIs

  • Lead team to build dynamic analytical tools to understand performance, trends, and key insights to inform financial and execution forecasts, process improvements, and answer strategic questions

  • Accountable for forecasting budgets and requesting adjustments based on program performance and portfolio needs.

  • Develop and maintain monthly, quarterly, annual, and multi-year forecasts to enable PG&E's EV True North Strategy goals and collaborate with teams like Distribution Planning and Service Planning and Design to ensure EVs are incorporated into their annual forecasts

  • Ensure broader CET team follows key governance stipulations to ensure program success

  • Contribute to new program / pilot proposals by guiding budget development and IT requirements

  • Reporting

  • Lead across CET to ensure timely reporting of key programs via CPUC-required annual evaluation reports

  • Manage timely responses to data requests

  • Establish strong data structures and reliable data reporting

  • Data Analysis and IT Project oversight

  • Direct team analysis of utilization, cost, cycle time, customer, and other various data to inform overall strategy and program improvements

  • Oversee implementation of key IT projects that impact end to end processes and development and implementation of IT projects to support new program launches

  • Work with IT to drive down rework KPIs and minimize waste

  • Strategic Support and Cross-functional leadership

  • Work cross-collaboratively across different lines of business to measure and drive true north strategy results where work execution may live outside of CET, like Rule 29 energization projects

  • Lead strategic forecasting and modeling efforts to support board and executive presentations, lean reporting, regulatory filings and other project proposals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant discipline
  • 8 years of relevant experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Knowledge of project and program management concepts, methods, and practices

  • Experience with Lean, including an understanding of the five plays and the ability to develop 1/3/10 metrics reporting and Catchback plans, coach employees to create and maintain effective visual management tools, lead problem solving, and identify waste elimination opportunities.

  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence peers

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into a digestible, executive-ready work product

  • Analytical problem solving and decision-making ability

  • Utility and/or clean energy industry experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience building a cohesive, motivated and talented team that delivers results which advance the EV/clean transportation mission - drive employee engagement, performance, and foster the career development of team members
