Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing Category Leadership capabilities for an account or multiple small accounts within the TBA Category Leadership Services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into development of account specific category leadership strategy in partnership with Shopper & Guest Solutions Initiative and Channel Insights teams.

  • Understand and communicate unique account dynamics to key stakeholders and recommended needed adjustments (tools, resources, approach, etc).

  • Strengthen existing retailer relationships through continuous engagement with category management teams at the account providing strategic thinking and expertise in category leadership.

  • Responsible for measuring, score carding and communication of account performance to leadership; ensuring outputs are clearly mapped to goals and purposes.

  • Participate in "top to tops" and joint business planning meetings.

  • Provide input to long-term strategy presentations.

  • Provide Category Leadership Services team with visibility to upcoming project and work with team to allocate resources appropriately to efficiently complete the work in a timely manner.

  • Ensure cross functional collaboration and alignment with other departments including BU sales teams, Innovation, Commercial Insights, National Sales, and Sales Strategy.

  • Participate in activities that are aligned with department strategies and prioritized initiatives and category management opportunities.

  • Ensure team organization, processes and tasks are structured and designed to deliver efficiently on clearly understood goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 3 years of sales, merchandising, or retail store management experience.

  • 2-5 years of category management, consumer or shopper insights, or research experience which included the management of the entire category

  • Ability to build strong relationships, initiate action and adjust to change are key attributes of this role

  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization

  • Proficient in the use of all category management software, concepts, analytical techniques; have a thorough understanding of syndicated data.

  • Bachelor's degree is required, MBA or equivalent is preferred

  • Ability to travel by plane approximately 50%

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.

  • Must have close vision, distant vision, ability to adjust focus, peripheral and color vision.

  • Must be able to work in an office environment primarily but periodically required to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures and lighting

  • Should be able to lift 40 lbs. on occasion

This Team Member partners with global marketing sub-teams and the Global Whole Body & Specialty merchandising teams to create category marketing strategy, execute the plans and work with the customer analytics team to measure results. This individual will play a key role within the Global Marketing organization, serving as marketing program lead for their categories within Whole Foods Market. The Senior Category Marketing Manager serves as the primary Marketing contact to the merchants, representing the voice of the customer and developing national retail programs that drive traffic to and sales in Whole Foods Market stores. Category Marketing Managers act as strategic planners for designated areas of our business and to assigned projects and collaborations. They are stewards for their categories across the work done by the Global Marketing Team when it comes to retail & shopper marketing. Responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, , planningmarketing programs, goal setting, managing all facets of communication around assigned programs and projects, and analyzing and communicating results for the brand and retail marketing team, while also serving as the point for invoicing and budget maintenance. Responsibilities: * Work with global marketing team to create annual strategy and plan. * Develop relationships and consistent communication with designated merchandising partners to ensure marketing is supporting and elevating the business objectives and goals for the category. * Mine customer insights, sales and data to and translate into breakthrough program strategies and ensure relevant communications strategies. Partner closely with the Insights team to effectively represent the mind of the customer. * Provide support and direction to the broader marketing team through mindful planning, production and execution of category marketing programs and collaborations, including but not limited to: establishing strategy and objectives, writing the creative briefs, overseeing budgets, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regional teams, merchandising and operations teams and the supplier community. * Identify and build consensus on KPIs for all programs; analyze performance results and make appropriate recommendations for future programs. * Support the evolution of the of Supplier Marketing/Co-Op Program within the Whole Body & Specialty categories. * Develop strategic plans and go-to-market strategies for our Specialty (Cheese, Beer, Wine) and Whole Body categories. * Contributes to the overall marketing strategy and the development of the Marketing function at Whole Foods Market. * Organize and manage multi-stakeholder platforms and channel plans with detailed data from diverse sources and review for accuracy and completeness. * Communicate program objectives, elements, key dates and results to multiple stakeholder groups. * Other projects, as assigned.
