Summary:
The Career-Enhancement Training (CET) and Student Placement Manager is responsible for developing and managing targeted short term training courses that aim to enhance the skills of local industry employees and/or Dixie Tech students, and for facilitating the placement of college graduates into relevant industry roles. This role requires strong coordination with local industries and companies to ensure training courses meet the needs of the workforce and that students and graduates are placed in positions where they can succeed and contribute effectively. The position also assists with and coordinates with Custom Fit.
Dixie Tech is a public technical college located in a new state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 29 Council on Occupational Education accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
The position has a salary of between $65,000 and $75,000 per year, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Instructional departments to provide necessary short-term training to industry and place program students where required
Develops relationships and interacts regularly with Washington County and other industry employers to assess and develop training to fit specific industry needs, assist with the placement of program students where placement is an issue, and advise College instructors and the administration regarding industry trends.
Secures qualified instructor(s) and training location and equipment, creates schedule and tuition and fee structure.
Recruits and markets CET in order to maintain high enrollment in courses
Makes presentations to companies and clearly articulates benefits of the College's ability to be an expert in workforce development, and otherwise promotes Dixie Tech's education programs and services
Supervises CET staff
Responsible for financial concerns and CET departmental budget, and ensures funds are spent and accounted for in accordance with USHE and government requirements
Monitors business satisfaction, quality and effectiveness of training, maintain records
Works with Custom Fit Manager to provide training and training funds as appropriate, and assist with the administration of Custom Fit where needed
Compliance with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
3+ years of professional experience in workforce development preferred
Strong relationship with Washington County business community preferred
Strong communications and presentation skills
Ability to network with business owners, community leaders, and professional organizations.
Must have general computer literacy skills.
Knowledge of local businesses and industry
Knowledge of industry training topics
Takes responsibility for personal development.
Can work independently with little direction.
The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and trainers who have inquiries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The person must be able to transport him or herself to locations in the county
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google suite applications
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
