Manager, Business Intelligence

We're looking for someone to help build, mentor, and manage our Business Intelligence team as a part of our larger Business Systems team which is responsible for the design, architecture, and development of our business system infrastructure. We're revamping our BI stack and building out the team responsible for developing it, and are looking for someone that can help lead this initiative. Working collaboratively with our various stakeholders across the organization, you will have a clear and direct impact on the performance of Fastly's ability to measure and report on its operations. This role reports to the Director of Business Systems and will be based in San Francisco, CA.

What You'll Do

  • Hire, manage, and mentor a team of Data Engineers and BI Analysts while actively being involved in driving the architectural design and implementation of our deliverables.

  • Establish and adhere to best practices in reporting and analysis to ensure the team is providing exceptional quality work and is continuously building stakeholders' trust in both the team and its output.

  • Deliver projects, programs and tactics covering all aspects of our Enterprise Data Warehouse, reporting, and analytics requirements.

  • Drive definition, development, and implementation of ETL principles, standards, and guidance to support business intelligence and application development needs.

  • Craft visualizations and dashboards for operating our business in partnership with functional leadership.

  • Project manage multiple concurrent work streams, delivering high quality results, and managing prioritization decisions with customer expectations.

  • Build strong relationships, communicate, and collaborate with users, stakeholders and other technical resources to develop solutions, implement enhancement requests and address data issues to maintain the smooth functioning of business processes and the ability to accurately measure the business.

  • Ensure that BI solutions and platforms adhere to privacy, information security, quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Improve the overall quality and completeness of documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5-7 years experience building and managing a business intelligence function in a high growth business.

  • Extensive knowledge of Data Warehousing principles and dimensional modeling including a robust understanding of Kimball's methodologies.

  • Demonstrated confidence presenting data to and refining key information for stakeholders and senior leadership teams.

  • Strong business process knowledge in areas of sales, marketing, customer success, and finance.

  • Hands on experience with data visualization software such as Domo, Birst, Looker, or Tableau.

  • Deep knowledge of SQL

  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, solid attention to detail and an ability to thrive amidst the ambiguity of a rapidly changing business environment.

  • History of implementing scalable solutions that are successful through multiple levels of company growth.

  • Prior experience in a SaaS or usage/consumption-based business preferred.

Bonus Points

  • Experience working with one or more of the following: Domo, Salesforce, NetSuite, Boomi, BigQuery.

  • Demonstrable experience working with a scripting language such as Python.

  • Experience working with systems that handle sensitive data, with SOX controls and change management processes.
