Role Objective

The Manager - Business Development sits within a geographical territory and grows the customer base through face-to-face interactions with new prospect customers with annual company revenues ranging from $10M to $300M. The ideal candidate works with senior executives to close calls and land new accounts. The Field Sales Manager understands customer needs and leverages product knowledge to deliver innovative business solutions that provide ongoing value to new customers through the American Express business suite of products.

Candidates must reside in one of the following territories: Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC and Hilton Head, SC.

Job Responsibilities

Prospecting (30 - 40% of time)

Leverage various contact methods such as cold calling or in-person meetings to secure profitable sales through firm provided leads and contact-lists, and self-generated leads (e.g., tradeshows) to complement commercial acquisition of product sales opportunities

All prospecting must be facilitated with integrity, and in accordance with our values, with a focus on profitably delivering solutions commensurate with the prospective clients needs.

Pipeline management (10 - 20% of time)

Effectively manage a pipeline of prospective customers provided by American Express and self-prospect within territory (Corporate and Business prospects with revenue between $10M-$300M)

Turn leads into prospects (contacts who know you and are willing to share info on available opportunity), follow up with contacts in CRM database, and probe for potential opportunities with the prospects

Client solution (10 - 20% of time)

Understand customer requirements and jointly develop solution in accordance with customer requests, bring in product specialists to meet with customer, and continue conversations to understand areas for improvement

Maintain a high level of knowledge about American Express products, processes (Underwriting, Line Increase, Customer Financials, Pricing, Contract), key internal partners (Risk, UWA, PPI) and tools (ONE.force, C360)

Negotiate and close (10 - 20% of time)

Successfully negotiate, and consensually move the prospect through the next phase of the acquisition cycle (e.g., underwriting) in accordance with applicable disclosures, terms and conditions

Reaffirm deal details, secure necessary signatures and upon deal completion successfully transition client to Field Account Development to nurture, assess and further expand relationship and volume

Compliance (100% of time)

Ensure all aspects of the American Express Code of Conduct, and our Sales Practices policies, standard, and procedures, are adhered to so that we uphold the highest standards in our interactions with our customers and compliantly meet all regulatory requirements

The position is responsible for new customer acquisition and conversion of competitive accounts by teaming with Technical Consultants and Strategic Account Executives as applicable. This is a field based position covering Northern Texas and Oklahoma.</p><p>THE REPSONSIBILITIES:</p><ul><li><p>Converts competitive/new customer accounts. Develops customer acceptance by establishing personal accountability, illustrating QuidelOrtho value propositions, demonstrating product capabilities, and successfully managing highest probability opportunities to close.</p></li><li><p>Drives Clinical Laboratory instrument placements within an assigned territory.</p></li><li><p>Develops and executes strategic territory plans to prioritize, pursue, and convert competitive customer accounts.</p></li><li><p>Teams with Strategic Account Executives in all relevant IDN-related planning activities.</p></li><li><p>Gains entry into competitive customer accounts, prospect for opportunities and develop leads.</p></li><li><p>Develops and leverages relationships with key stakeholders, forms and executes customer touchpoint/call plan based on customer's buying cycle, manages opportunities within and outside of the buying/sales cycle, leverages strategic selling framework.</p></li><li><p>Develops and executes strategic territory plans to prioritize, pursue, and convert competitive customer accounts to meet annual quotas, KPIs and sales goals</p></li><li><p>Assists with transition planning for newly converted customers and contributes to smooth transition to Account Managers.</p></li><li><p>Teams with appropriate Area Technical Consultants, and Inside Sales to target and convert stand-alone, non-standardized IDNs</p></li><li><p>Provides timely and accurate sales forecasts, activity, account updates, and reports via CRM system and collaborates with Marketing to identify opportunities for equipment placement in CRM environment.</p></li></ul><p>INTERACTIONS:</p><p>Customers: Form relationships with net-new customers.</p><p>Distribution Partners: Work with Channel Sales Executives to support customers purchasing through distributors.</p><p>Inside Sales: Cooperate to gain entry into new accounts and target smaller accounts.</p><p>Field Sales: Works with Strategic Account Executives on IDN-related opportunities. Facilitates introduction and transition of competitive accounts to Account Managers.</p><p>QuidelOrtho Management: Interacts with Sales Leadership, Specialty Sales, Sales Administration, and Distribution to maximize achievement of corporate goals, and interacts with other aspects of the organization as required (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, Customer Service, etc.)</p><p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p><p>Typical outside sales environment. Must have the discipline, organization skills and self-motivation to work autonomously in a home office environment.</p><p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p><p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally required to reach, climb, or balance. Must be physically able to travel up to 70%. Must maintain a valid driver's license and must own and maintain an automobile suitable for travel to customer sites, airport, etc. Travel includes airplane, train, automobile, and overnights. On a typical workday, 80% of time meeting with people, 20% of the time on computer, doing paperwork, or on phone. Prior capital equipment sales experience is a plus.</p></li><li><p>Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Healthcare industry required. 5+ years is preferred.</p></li></ul><p>Knowledge/Skills</p><ul><li><p>Strategic thinking skills and ability to translate strategies into executable tactical action plans.</p></li><li><p>Ability to deliver results while working in a highly independent and fast-paced team environment.</p></li><li><p>Commercial &amp; Business acumen.
