Job Summary
Manages residential camps and conferences for the department. Responsible for planning, coordinating, managing and overseeing residential camps and conferences that utilize Kennesaw State campuses and locations.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Develops external stakeholder relationships with the local community and serves as a point of contact with local businesses
2.Expands and nurtures the department sponsorship program
3.Plans, coordinates and manages residential camps and conferences for the university
4.Utilizes pertinent software such as EMS, StarRez, Paciloan, Lumens to ensure accurate records of guests and/or students
5.Supervises assigned residential camps and conference staff and/or student assistants
6.Supports events staff for coverage of events on evenings and weekends as necessary
7.Reviews, maintains, and expands current vendors and potential community engagement
8.Communicates and resolves problems, concerns, and/or issues effectively and in a timely manner
9.Ensures that all residential camps and conferences comply with all government, university, and department regulations, rules, policies, and procedures
Generates contracts while keeping in compliance with governing policies and procedures
Develops the residential camps and conferences business through relationships and marketing and communication processes
Manages residential camps and conference email account, as well as in-person communication with external clients and designated liaisons
Forecasts, evaluates, and reports on financial goals, growth and success
Effectively and consistently manages a high volume of work with quality output
Collaborates with units, such as, Dining Services, Event and Venue Management, Parking, Legal, Student Affairs, and other departments within the university for residential camp and conference needs
Utilizes the event management system (EMS) in coordination with event staff, coordinators and leadership to ensure optimum usage by internal and external groups
Researches and coordinates special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Three (3) years of related work experience in event planning, management, higher education and/or hospitality industry

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Event Management Experience
Prior Camp, Conference and Event experience
Experience working with college students in a university setting
Experience working in Housing and Residence Life

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Basic knowledge of accounting procedures and budget maintenance
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, organization, communication
(verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
