The successful candidate will ideally have industry experience in the financing, development and production of theatrical motion pictures, confidence in working with industry players, an ability to deal with sophisticated and interrelated documentation, frequently to short deadlines, across multiple jurisdictions and projects. Assist with and draft/negotiate agreements (including development, production and distribution agreements).
Manage guild signatory process and inquiries, insurance certificate process, development USCO copyright filings, development payments (and tracking), and the tracking of important deadlines (including option and greenlight deadlines).
Liaise with and advise creative and production teams in respect of deal and rights tracking and related tasks to track the progress of underlying rights, option periods, agreements, day-to-day production matters and other related legal matters.
Oversee contract management and related tasks (including maintaining and updating records of key contractual, non-legal information and rights management information).
Assist department in maintaining and updating agreement templates and process documentation.
Create internal status memos advising departments of contractual legal obligations, approval rights, credits, etc.
Attend meetings on request by team to take action notes and follow-up on action items.
Various special projects and other work as required to support the Film Legal team.
Work on all aspects of single picture and television bank and equity financing, including without limitation, assist with document tracking throughout the process, managing related USCO copyright and Secretary of State UCC filing processes, sourcing signatures, assisting with drafting of corporate documents and resolutions and other financing related documents.
Assist with general corporate functions, including, without limitation, formation/incorporation/maintenance of single picture entities, obtaining EIN numbers, liaising with corporate function re keeping entities in good standing etc.
Knowledge & Experience
Paralegal license, JD (minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience) or experienced contract administrator.
Ability to deal with high volume of work across many projects and time zones and ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple tasks from multiple individuals.
Flexible, adaptable and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills (including to non-legal departments).
Excellent organization and direction with good attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and tact.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
The position is based in Entertainment One's Santa Monica, CA office.
