VIEW JOBS 3/31/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-29T00:00 Overview Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE: CLW) is a $1.8B manufacture quality consumer tissue, away from home tissue, parent roll tissue, bleached paperboard and pulp at its 11 manufacturing and converting locations across the nation. The Plant Manager II is responsible for the Production and Conversion of consumer tissue products across diverse high capacity and technically complex processes. In our Las Vegas, NV location this role will lead 1 tissue machine and 9 converting machines responsible for producing 40,000 parent roll tons and converting 60,000 tons. As the leader of the plant leadership team, the Plant Manager will be critical in the development of overall performance goals, objectives, operating budget, talent development, integrating safety and environmental compliance throughout operations. This role is charged with ensuring the operations produce safe, low cost products meeting and exceeding customer expectations. As a leader of multiple manufacturing and converting process, the incumbent is accountable for developing and maintaining an engaged employee culture, setting performance expectations and accountability and developing direct reports and supporting front line employees. Responsibilities Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Operations Leadership & Execution: * Develop short- range and long-range manufacturing & converting objectives to ensure meeting & exceeding customer requirements on time and on specifications while preserving position as low-cost high-quality market position * Provide insights on available capacity, manufacturing capability, and demand; identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, develop and implement plans ensuring alignment with division and corporate strategic plans * Develop manufacturing models and corresponding inventory strategies that deliver against operational cost targets * Lead and sustain safety commitments as priority through the implementation of safety systems, training programs, and accountability; champion a safety-first culture through the support companywide safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives * Deliver production, quality, and budget goals and objectives through communication ensuring all roles, responsibilities and expectations are aligned to support goals and objectives are attained * Lead and communicate a balance scorecard, Production, Waste, Operating Equipment Efficiency (OEE), Down time, Change Overs, Quality etc. * Lead with a sense of urgency, accountability and collaborative solution orientation across all assigned departments and teams with a focus on communicating work prioritization and minimizing disruptions * Champion organizational development and talent programs that anticipate and address shifts in talent pools Operations Capability Development: * Foster an operating environment that encourages employee engagement through demonstration and modeling of Clearwater Paper's Core Values * Drive a culture of performance execution through personal accountability across all manufacturing and converting departments * Enable the operations organization sustainment plan by promoting developing and transferring knowledge across work groups, Qual Card execution, conducting effective and efficient new hire on-boarding and integration * Led and develop an Operations Manager, Superintendents, Shift Supervisors, Process Engineers, Assistant Superintendents (Business Unit Leaders), through coaching and development plans; identify and develop successors; monitor progress against goals & development plans Continuous Improvement: * Lead and support a culture of continuous improvement through the review, refresh and refinement of both Operations and Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) * Champion and Execute the company's journey on TPM; lead quality, productivity and maintenance initiatives and support changes to ensure customer satisfaction- a change coach and champion * Effective and efficient management of capital projects within defined limits of authority (budget); aligning and bringing others along- act to improve culture, process, products * Demonstrated ability to understand the organizational impact in decision making; see the big picture and distil it into action plans Qualifications Required education and related experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration Operations Management, or related field required, Master's in Engineering preferred * 8+ years of progressive responsibility in manufacturing operations and management required * 5+ years budgetary responsibilities (Project or Operating Budget) * Experience in tissue and paper industry strongly preferred; continuous manufacturing considered * Experience in both manufacturing and commercial (sales) exposure highly desired Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications): * Certified Continuous Improvement and/or Operational Excellence (Six Sigma, TPM, Lean, Kaizen) and change management methodologies strongly preferred * Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal development through continuing education, coaching and developing others * Highly adept performing at a fast pace communicating and collaborating across multiple stakeholonfident and proficient in navigating in an automated environment with proficiency in MS Office Suite, multiple business intelligence databases Illustrative Essential Functions: * High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces * Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment. * Dirt, noise, odour, & temperature extremes. * Climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding. * Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process * Travel of less than 10% Clearwater Paper North Las Vegas NV
