Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Manager, Asia Accounting who will ensure the Asia accounting team effectively and efficiently records accounting transactions according to GAAP, in a SOX compliant environment and that financial reporting is accurate and timely in support of the Asia G&A offices and their operations. This position reports to the Director, Treasury, Asia, and G&A Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees month-end close and related month, quarter and annual corporate and management reporting.

  • Manages account reconciliation process to ensure accuracy, efficiency and completeness.

  • Ensures internal and external audits are sufficiently supported.

  • Coordinates Asia office local audits to fulfill country regulatory requirements as needed.

  • Provides financial data to assist operations groups in managing their business activities.

  • Strengthens working relationships with operations, financial planning, and executive management teams.

  • Assists operating departments with financial understanding and analysis as opportunities arise.

  • Advises on financial information required to complete regulatory filings and surveys for each country office.

  • Identifies and facilitates potential process improvements, including system enhancements.

  • Coordinates across groups to build inclusive solutions when multiple parties are impacted.

  • Encourages staff to examine, question and improve existing processes.

  • Manages special projects as assigned.

  • Leads regularly scheduled staff meetings to direct team in meeting individual, department and company goals.

  • Coaches staff in understanding of technical accounting and leadership/management style.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in GAAP accounting within a Sarbanes-Oxley environment

  • 2+ years managerial experience in a supervisory capacity

  • CPA desired but not required

  • Strong GAAP accounting with application to operating departments and Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Experience evaluating and improving financial processes and controls

  • Experience with multiple currency and legal entity financial reporting for international operations

  • Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems, Oracle preferred
