Working Environment

Activities are performed in environmentally controlled office settings subject to extending periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Department Statement

This position is housed in the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy that is located in the Office of the University Provost. The Center has two campus locations: Tempe and Downtown. The position reports to the Director of the Ceriter. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position and will require travel to other ASU campuses and off-campus locations.

Essential Duties

  • Work in partnership and consultation with the director to sustain, accelerate and maximize campus collaborations and pedagogical connections between the Center and ASU faculty and units.
  • Develop projects that optimize the CSR D's contribution to and advancement of the ASU Charter.
  • Work closely with the director to ensure that CSRD campus and community engagement enhances the Center's ability to be a local, national and global leader and resource on issues of race and democracy.
  • Work closely with CSRD Fellows and Affiliated Faculty to promote curricular connections and grant-related initiatives between the Center and academic units across ASU.
  • Generate and maintain documentation and assessment of partnerships and collaborations to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Strengthen community engagement and partnerships with the CSRD through coordinated program development, sponsorships and collaborations.
  • Maintain and develop networks with local, regional, national and global CSRD community partners.
  • Supervise Center student workers and interns assigned to campus and community engagement projects.
  • Interact with administrators, faculty, staff, volunteers, sponsors and funders, community leaders and community members.
  • Work closely with CSRD staff to ensure timely and effective production and dissemination of marketing and communication materials at and beyond ASU networks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leadership development and organizational leadership principles.
